You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Not sure that Martin H. is really Martin H. Please give a proof that you really are Martin H. lol, how can I proof that it's my own job ... to ask to a friend to declare that he was with me when I took the picture ????? i'm disapointed, I read and I follow instruction and it's not right again ...

Its not impossible to verify authorship, e.g. with a larger version - the image is from a time without digital cameras, so the author is maybe in posession of an original negative. A digitalization of the negative will provide evidence. With the uploads in the past for me it appears that you use the "own work" source description as a vehicle to upload files that you where not able to upload with true source information - magazine scans, video screenshots etc. Thats however not what we want on Commons, we are looking for media files that the copyright holder, not someone else, voluntarily released under a free license so that anyone worldwide can reuse them anywhere and for any purpose. --Martin H. I don't want to use picture from another one, but I think that using a picture from someone else isn't a probleme because Wikipedia has nothing to sell .... and the latest pictures I uploaded are really from me, I've lots of pictures on my computeur from eric saul, not scanned or from a magazine ... it's visible

So ok, I understand, if i upload a picture with a Copyright marked on (e.g Copyright icgpracing.com), this could be a sufficient proof ? and these pictures will be on Icgpracing website, it will be ok ?

No, it will only be ok if you created the original photographic work. The permission must come from the copyright holder, thats the photographer in the first place. icgpracing.com is unlikely the copyright holder of most images used on this website and unlikely eligible to publish most of the image under a free license. A free license is an perpetual permission granted non-exclusive to anyone, worldwide, to reuse the work for any purpose including money making purposes. Only the owner of the exclusive copyrights can grant such a "blanche" permission. So the requirement is not that your website published the images, the requirement is that you are the legal owner (and not just the owner of a physical copy). --Martin H.
