Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Thanks for uploading File:SafetyCulture Logo.svg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

- Hi Howiemann. If you or SafetyCulture is willing to release this under a free license that is compatible with Commons:Licensing, then some sort of formal verification is going to be needed as explained at COM:OTRS. You and SafetyCulture need to realize, however, that releasing the file under such a license is basically agreeing in advance to permit anyone anywhere in the world to download this file at anytime for pretty much any purpose, including commercial and derivative use. Moreover, once a file is released under such a license, the license cannot be canceled or revoked at a latter date if there's a change of heart. So, if you or SafetyCulture are not willing to abide by such conditions, I suggest you do nothing and let the file being deleted. An administrator will review in and delete it in seven days. If you of SafetyCulture would like the file deleted faster, then click on "Nominate for deletion" in the left sidebar of this page, and follow the instructions in the pop-up window. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:32, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Marchjuly. Thank you for the notification. I have followed the relevant template and emailed permissions-commons@wikimedia.org granting authority to use the SafetyCulture company log. --Howiemann (talk) 08:04, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
- Whoever sends in the email should do so using an official email address of the company since this will make it seem more like it's actually from someone at the company. After the email has been received, the sender should get an automated reply from OTRS containing an OTRS ticket number; this ticket number is like a reference number and can be used when asking questions about the status of the email on pages like COM:OTRSN. OTRS volunteers are the only people who can see permission emails (I'm not a volunteer) and they will not make public any information contained in them. They will only discuss specifics with the sender via email, but they will answer general questions at OTRSN. Once the sender receives a reply from OTRS, you or they can add the syntax{{OTRS pending}} to the file's page. This will let the administrator reviewing the file and other editors know that a permissions email has been sent in and is being processed. Once the email has been verified, an OTRS volunteer will replace the pending template with {{OTRS permission}} if everything checks out. If there's a problem with the email, an OTRS volunteer will most likely contact the sender by email and explain the issue; they may also add {{OTRS received}} to the file's page. There tends to be quite a backlog at OTRS, so the whole process may take some time. Just be patient and use OTRSN if things seem to start taking an excessive amount of time. If by chance the file is deleted, don't panic and reupload it. Deleted files are not gone forever, but rather only hidden from public view. As long as the email is being processed, the file can be restored once the email has been OTRS verified. Good luck. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:54, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
