Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

File:Cover of the album Baroque.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

File copyright status
[edit]Welcome to Wikimedia Commons. While everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the project, one or more of your file uploads had missing or false information regarding its source and copyright status. Please note that Wikimedia Commons takes copyright rules and infringement very seriously. Files may only be uploaded and included if their copyright status meets the conditions stated in our licensing policy, and if their provenance is clearly documented. Files that fail to meet those conditions may be deleted, and users who fail to meet them may be blocked. Please follow our first steps, if you haven't already. If you have questions, feel free to ask at the Village Pump copyright question page or on my talk page. Thank you.--Lord Belbury (talk) 18:31, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
File:Photo of the Rarog band.jpg
[edit]I've also added File:Photo of the Rarog band.jpg to the previous deletion discussion, which you uploaded later yesterday. If you have permission to release all of these various photographers' work for commercial reuse, please provide proof of that. --Lord Belbury (talk) 10:09, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
If all you're able to do is name the photographers, these photos will be deleted. You need to show that you have permission to upload them under the CC-Attribution licence. --Lord Belbury (talk) 10:24, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- We've read about the CC-Attribution licence, but we haven't figured out what we should do to show that we have a permission to upload the photoes. Do you need a written permission from the photographers or something like that? Would you mind explaining it to us in more detales. Thanks. Smorodina Reka (talk) 11:05, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, exactly that. See Commons:Volunteer Response Team. --Lord Belbury (talk) 12:25, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, we've found the photographers and can text them: how should the written permission look like? The majority of the photographers don't know the English language, what language should they use to write it? Is Russian also ok? Is there any special form how the permission should look like? Should we go to notary to check, sign and put his stamp on it it as well? If there are many people on the photo, should they also write a permission to use their photo here? And after all where should we dowload the permission (I saw no graphs under the photo where we can do it)? Smorodina Reka (talk) 15:04, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Russian is fine, see Commons:Volunteer_Response_Team/ru. There are links to email templates that you can use. An email direct from the photographer is enough, I believe, with no need for permission from a photograph's subjects, but if you have questions you can ask the experts at Commons:Volunteer Response Team/Noticeboard. --Lord Belbury (talk) 16:14, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! And should it be written by hand (and then taking a photo and sending it by mail) or writing it online is ok as well? Smorodina Reka (talk) 17:50, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Typing an email is fine, so long as it comes from an email address which is verifiably that of the photographer. --Lord Belbury (talk) 18:53, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you very much for helping us to figure out what to do with the photos! We're gonna contact all the photographers who's gonna send emails with permissions as soon as possible! Smorodina Reka (talk) 19:02, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- We've texted to all the photographers yesterday evening and they agreed to send the emails with permissions. As far as I know, all of them except for one (his name is Boris Tumakov and he took the photo with the "Klassika" choir and works for the government of Russia, that's why he's a little bit hard to reach and talk to)have already sent the permissions. Is everything OK now? Smorodina Reka (talk) 09:55, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
