User talk:Gaius iulius caesar~commonswiki
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Image Tagging Image:Escudo_Carrascosa_del_Campo.gif
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Escudo_Carrascosa_del_Campo.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and or licensing of this particular file. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. --
Image deletion warning | Image:PA085705.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Thanks for uploading Image:IMG_01.jpg.
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you.

Please do not recreate deleted images
[edit]
Your image or other content , Image:Palaciodelosparada.jpg, was recently deleted in accordance with our process and policies. You have recreated this content after it was deleted. Please do not do that. If you would like to contest the deletion, please visit Commons:Undeletion requests and follow the instructions there to have the deletion reviewed.

Please do not overwrite images
[edit]
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. I notice that you have uploaded Image:Santana.JPG and at the same time replaced an older one. I think you should know that this is only allowed when the two images are almost exactly alike. Here in Commons we would like to host as many different, useful versions as possible for Wikimedia projects to choose from. I have restored your image to an older version, but I hope you will upload your fine image with another name. Thank you, and happy editing! —LX (talk, contribs) 13:04, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

This and Image:PA085684.jpg were identical to the previously deleted Image:PalacioParada2.jpg and had the same watermark from www.infolamancha.com. Image:Aytocarrascosadc.jpg, identical to the previously deleted Image:Aytocarras.jpg, having the same watermark, has also been deleted again. To prevent you from wasting your own time recreating deleted uploads, you've been blocked for a week. Please use this time to read Commons:Licensing, as you have been repeatedly instructed to do.
When the block expires,
- do not upload any images from www.infolamancha.com. Commons only accepts free contents.
- do not make fraudulent claims of being the copyright holder to works created by other people. This is a criminal offence.
- do not recreate deleted uploads. Use Commons:Undeletion requests.
- do heed warnings on your user talk page.
- do read the instructions.
- do read Commons:Licensing.
If you fail to comply with these simple instructions and continue to ignore our warnings, the next block will be not be as short. There will be no further warnings in this matter. —LX (talk, contribs) 21:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Unless the permission information is given, the image may be speedy deleted after seven days. Thank you. Reason: The image is also shown on http://www.fuenterrebollo.com/Borgia/gran-capitan.html. Image:Iglcarrspric.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

transfered from empty imagepage
- Acepto por una parte que me elimineis la foto, aunque la saque de internet y no tiene ninguna marca de agua, pero bueno, pero lo que me extraña y quiero preguntar es pork se me elimina ahora y no cuando la subi que hace unos meses. Muchas Gracias. --Gaius iulius caesar (talk) 20:36, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
According to your request on the empty imagepage: The image was deleted because it was not your work like claimed. The image is from http://www.flickr.com/photos/gabillo/708556026/, the author of the photo does not allow everyone, every person or company to reuse the image for every purpose including commercial use. The image was not deleted fast after your upload because noone recognized it. You should not complain on the deletion, you should never have uploaded an image violating the copyrights of the author! Are there any other images in your gallery that are NOT your work and you uploaded WITHOUT permission? --Martin H. (talk) 20:45, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- transfered again from empty imagepage:
- Sinceramente yo no sabia que dicha imagen tenia derechos de autor, si lo hubiera sabido no la hubiera subido, y tampoco tengo más imágenes que violen copyright, de verdad eh, espero que acepte mis disculpas pero solo quería preguntar. Saludos. --Gaius iulius caesar (talk) 23:41, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer. Every photo you did not take yourself is protected by other peoples copyright. --Martin H. (talk) 08:49, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 14:33, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

File:MOV02657.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Gaius iulius caesar. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Gaius iulius caesar~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
