Map of Sri Lankan polling divisions

[edit]

@Furfur: Hello. All the work you do in producing political maps with election results for use in Wikipedia articles is greatly appreciated. I would like to enquire whether you would be able to create a blank map of the polling divisions of Sri Lanka. It would be greatly appreciated if the map is not colour-shaded and instead displays only the polling division serial numbers (nos. 1–160). Such a map would be a valuable addition to the List of Polling divisions of Sri Lanka article. Thank you. QEnigma (talk) 07:20, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello QEnigma,
that's no problem. I will upload one and then you can decide if it is suitable for your purpose. But you could easily try it yourself with Inkscape (a freeware graphics editor). I could also provide a Tamil or Sinhala map, if you like. Furfur Diskussion 13:16, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Furfur: Thank you for your reply and advice. I will certainly try Inkscape as suggested. I greatly appreciate your offer to upload maps in Sinhala and Tamil as well. Although I primarily work on English articles, I am confident that editors who use native languages will find them extremely useful. QEnigma (talk) 21:17, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I uploaded a simple map with white background and included it in the above mentioned article. Furfur Diskussion 23:04, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template maps?

[edit]

Thank you for all the work you do in designing election maps for countries across the world. I have a question regarding them. Is there a place where the base maps can be found? Particularly the Indian ones, without any numbers and SC/ST seats marked. MrMkG (talk) 12:42, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MrMkG,
I think that most assembly constituency maps can be found in the Category:Assembly constituency maps of Indian States and Union Territories. Most maps are SVG maps. You can easily remove the SC/ST marks and numbers using an SVG editor like Inkscape (freeware). Furfur Diskussion 12:52, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Correction request

[edit]

Hello, Furfur.

Can you remove the yellow coloring of Persian from the map of Azerbaijan in the duplicates File:Iranian tongues de.svg, File:Iranian tongues eo.svg, File:Iranian tongues es.svg, File:Iranian tongues-nl.svg and File:Iranian tongues-tr.svg?

There are no Persian-speaking areas in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The only Iranian languages spoken natively on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan today are Talysh and Tat, which are separate languages, and which are shown in all these maps with their own colorings. See Languages of Azerbaijan.

The yellow color for Persian language was already removed in the original file File:Iranian tongues.svg and was uploaded without it in File:Iranian tongues (cropped).svg.

Hello Moroike,
I understand. I will do it. Greetings --Furfur Diskussion 23:03, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Furfur.
Thank you very much for the updates. Can you also update the Spanish duplicate File:Iranian tongues es.svg, which is the last map left? I have asked its original uploader Tyk, who said he/she couldn't do it, because he/she doesn't have inkspace on his/her computer. Tyk also recommended to go ahead with the request.
