First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?

Auteursrechtenschendingen

Dag Foxth, op 6 en 7 maart heb je meerdere afbeeldingen geüpload waarmee auteursrechten geschonden zijn. Je beweerde dat de afbeeldingen zijn vrijgegeven onder de licentie CC-BY-SA, terwijl ik hier lees dat dat niet klopt. De afbeeldingen zijn gebruikt op de pagina over de Parnassia Group op de Nederlandstalige Wikipedia. Ik zie daar meer afbeeldingen staan, waaronder van een prentbriefkaart. Ik geloof niet dat prentbriefkaarten onder CC-BY-SA worden vrijgegeven. Ik ben daarom voornemens om alle andere afbeeldingen die je hebt geüpload, eveneens ter verwijdering voor te dragen. Kun je me ervan overtuigen dat van een aantal afbeeldingen waarvan je CC-BY-SA beweert, dit wel klopt? Hiro (talk) 12:47, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moet ik hier antwoorden? Help me aub door te vertellen wat ik moet doen. Ik heb vooraf echt goed gelezen, maar kwam er niet uit. Uitleg: De logo's mogen gebruikt worden en tav de briefkaart: ik dacht dat ik het goed deed omdat deze meer dan 70 jaar oud is en ook nog afkomstig van een website die staat in de lijst vrij te gebruiken. Het is het handigst om vragen te beantwoorden waar ze gesteld zijn. Dan blijven vraag en antwoord overzichtelijk bij elkaar. Onderteken je bijdragen met vier tildes (~~~~) zodat je naam en datum/tijd worden toegevoegd.
Volgens de website van Parnassia mogen de logo's alleen onder bepaalde voorwaarden gebruikt worden, zo is duplicatie of commercieel gebruik niet toegestaan. Dit is onverenigbaar met CC-BY-SA; de Creative Commons-licenties stimuleren duplicatie juist. Hoewel er een CC-licentie is die commercieel gebruik uitsluit, maakt Wikimedia Commons daar geen gebruik van. Sowieso is het aan degene die een afbeelding gemaakt heeft om een licentie te kiezen, niet aan degene die de afbeelding kopieert/uploadt naar Wikimedia Commons. Pas als je er zeker van bent dat een afbeelding al is vrijgegeven onder CC-BY-SA, mag je de afbeelding onder die licentie uploaden naar hier. Hoe het precies zit met prentbriefkaarten weet ik niet, mogelijk bevinden erg oude prentbriefkaarten zich al in het publiek domein. CC-BY-SA klopt in elk geval niet, dat is toch echt de verkeerde licentie. Beter kun je hier om informatie vragen. Hiro (talk) 14:00, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dag Hiro, zo leer ik steeds meer. Dank. Ik wist niet dat het zo ingewikkeld zat met de logo's. Dus mijn vragen zijn nu nog: 1. Over de prentbriefkaart: doe ik via de link die jij stuurde. 2. welke licentie moet ik gebruiken bij logo's en wat moet ik daarvoor regelen. Deze vraag zal ik ook stellen via de link. Och, het gaat je vanzelf allemaal een stuk duidelijker worden. Op zich is het niet zo heel ingewikkeld; veel logo's worden niet onder vrije licenties vrijgegeven en zijn dus niet geschikt voor uploaden naar Commons. Als je daar niet zeker van bent, kun je vóór je gaat uploaden er beter eerst vragen over stellen. Ik zag op de Nederlandstalige Wikipedia dat je daar vragen had gesteld, maar als je op de link klikt die ik je gaf dan kom je terecht in de Kroeg hier op Commons. Het is beter om vragen over Commons hier op Commons te stellen en niet mee te nemen naar een ander project zoals Wikipedia. Hiro (talk) 16:32, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ik weet inmiddels dat ik het helemaal fout gedaan heb met de vrijwaringen. Waarom ik dacht dat deze beide afbeeldingen wel kunnen (op basis van de informatie die ik vond in de Wiki help): de foto van Maasoord is meer dan 70 jaar oud en afkomstig van een site die genoemd staat in de lijst vrij te gebruiken. De foto van Maxima komt van de overheidssite en ook daarvan stond genoemd dat je deze vrij kon gebruiken. Maar goed, het is allemaal nieuw voor me, ben nog aan het ontdekken. Net zoals dat me net is uitgelegd dat en hoe ik een handtekening moet plaatsen --Foxth (talk) 16:02, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
