File:Konvoluttenengra00gjel 0001 (08).jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

- Same refer to nearly all images in Category:Louis Moe - he died in 1945, and thus his artworks are copyrighted until 2016. Materialscientist (talk) 03:47, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- Materialscientist, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I am going by the information on Commons:Copyright rules by territory that says "Images uploaded to Commons, unless uploaded from the United States, involve the interaction of two or more copyright jurisdictions."
- Since these images were all uploaded from the United States, I am also looking at Commons:Copyright rules by territory#United States that says "Anything published before January 1, 1923 is in the public domain." These images should all be pre-1923, and I believe they have all been be documented as such with links that show the publication dates. @Slowking4? Is this not correct? Let me know if there is any further information or documentation I can provide. Regards, Four and sixty (talk) 00:33, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
- welcome to commons where europeans don't respect american formalities. here is the internet archive of the book [1] if first published in denmark by Kbenhavn Schubotheske forlag, then berne predominates; if he immigrated to us and published first in us, then pre-1923 predominates. you found a ridiculous case. Slowking4♡Richard Arthur Norton's revenge 01:27, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
- Born in Norway, emigrated to Denmark, died 23. oktober 1945 in Copenhagen [2]; WorldCat shows first published Kjøbenhavn : Schubothske Forlag. [3] So if we wait 2 months all his works are PD, or is it October 23, 2015? Is there a page that spells this out or must I depend on the word of whatever person who appears in my notifications next and appears knowledgeable? Four and sixty (talk) 02:00, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
- Looking further I see the author of the book was Karl Gjellerup (1857 – 1919)[4], who was Danish but died in Germany. Looking here for more info about Berne, according to Commons:Licensing#Material_in_the_public_domain: "If the work is anonymous or a collaborative work (e.g. an encyclopedia), it is typically in the public domain 70 years after the date of the first publication." So who holds the copyright, the author Gjellerup or the illustrator Louis Moe whose name is not associated with this work in WorldCat. Four and sixty (talk) 02:37, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
- hmm, might be worth a DR after oct 23 or as anonymous; keep in mind publisher is defunct, so unclear who would claim copyright, and it is online at internet archive. Slowking4♡Richard Arthur Norton's revenge 03:18, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
@Materialscientist Is there still any question about the status of these images? Shall I start some sort of official query somewhere? Four and sixty (talk) 11:40, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
