Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? "Own work" files

Hi Fossiladder13. You appear to have recently upoaded several photos of fossils to Commons as your "own work". While there's nothing wrong with this, in principle, please take a close look at COM:Own work, COM:COWN and COM:NETCOPYVIO just to make sure you understand what "own work" means when it comes to Commons. Many people just mistakenly assume that scanning or downloading a file and then uploading it to Commons somehow makes it their "own work" regardless of whether it actually is a work created by someone else. Most of the files you've uploaded as "own work" appear to be scans of photos and not photos upoladed with their original COM:EXIF data. Once again, while this is OK in priniciple, it makes it much harder to verify the en:provenance of a photo and whether the uploader is actually the copyright holder. The more information you can provide about a file's provenance in its file description or summary, the less likely the file is going to be tagged for review or even possibly deletion because of a questionable claim of "own work". -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:01, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi Fossiladder13. Non-derivative (ND) aren't acceptable for Commons as explained here; so, this file will eventually end up being deleted if you're unable to get its copyright holder to release the file to a license accepted by Commons as explained here and here. If you do nothing, the file will eventually end up deleted in about seven days. Even if the file ends up deleted, you can always request that it be refunded by asking for help here if you're able eventually to sort out its licensing issues with the copyright holder. If you have no intention of trying to contact the copyright holder, you might want to consider requesting that the file be speedily deleted per speedy deletion criterion G7 instead to speed things up a bit. Please note that it was a bot which tagged the file for speedy deletion per speedy deletion criterion F5 because the bot was unable to detect a copyright license for the file.
