Videos für Wikipedia-Artikel: Workshops und Wettbewerb

Lieber Florian,

Vwa logo svg
Vwa logo svg

Viele Grüße--ALi (VWA) (talk) 10:06, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

RfC on the scope of file renaming criterion 2

Pursuant to the closing of the RFC "Proposed overhaul of the "Which files should be renamed?" section", a second RfC has been opened at Commons:Requests for comment/File renaming criterion 2 specifically to address the scope of criterion 2, which currently reads "To change from a completely meaningless name to a name that describes what the image displays." Since you participated in the initial discussion, I am notifying you of the follow-up RfC.

Please note that I fully anticipate that the first few days will see a number of additional options proposed, so it may be a good idea to check back periodically on the RfC.

Thank you. Sven Manguard Wha? 01:43, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Duplicate images

When you find duplicate images, don't DR them, just use {{Duplicate}}. Use it on the file which should be deleted, with {{Duplicate|(Old one, or higher quality here)}}. This way, admins can replace duplicate to other, and can create redirect to new one automatically. Thanks for your help, Revicomplaint? 03:47, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

@Hym411: I've had some declined {{Duplicate}} requests, so as both files had different file types, I decided to use a RFD. Now that I know, I will use the dupe template in such cases in the future.    FDMS  4    11:43, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Hmm, ok. Revicomplaint? 11:46, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

I replied on my talk page. --Pine 20:28, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

I found the source for this image and ordered a new review. Unfortunately, this uploader does not give an online link for his many uploads. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 03:07, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Theme icon (CFD)

Hallo FDMS4,

FDMS  4    08:11, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

What else is needed for OTRS of 8 x ASV files

This is my first time using the OTRS system, and I need to ask for your help.

I have a set of 8 files that are covered by this, such as ASV Santa Claus solar observing at Star-Be-Cue.jpg The photographer (Perry Vlahos) does not have a WP account, so I am trying to get the photos up for him. I sent him the template email to forward to you, but I see that you have tagged it with "the message was not sufficient to confirm permission for this file." Unfortunately, Perry did not copy me on the email he sent, and I cannot see the OTRS system to see what email you received, so I need to ask you: what additional information do you need? --Gronk Oz (talk) 02:55, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

@Gronk Oz: Sorry it took me so long to reply. I asked Perry whether he also wanted to release the eight work he possibly forgot to mention and what attribution term her preferred. In case he is not going to send any further eMails to OTRS I can still tag six images with {{PermissionOTRS}} (he misspelled the seventh).    FDMS  4    10:28, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
@FDMS4: - thanks for the reply. I did send Perry a completed template to forward to you, but not sure whether he did. His father was taken to hospital very ill in the middle of this process, and obviously that is where his attention is focused, so I ask for a little flexibility if possible. Is there anything I can do to help the process along, or do you need Perry's response? (I can only contact him by email too; he lives in a different state to me.) --Gronk Oz (talk) 11:34, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
@Gronk Oz: Yes, we have received the template, there is just one file missing and one misspelled. I personally would not want my eMail address to be part of the required attribution, that's why I've asked him whether or not he preferred a version without the address. Perry has 30 days to reply, if you think that's not enough, please just tell me. There is nothing else you could do at the moment :) .    FDMS  4    11:57, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
Great, thanks - I did not realize we had that long. Hopefully, that will be plenty of time to sort it out! --Gronk Oz (talk) 13:48, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Warning

Don't do like this again. This subcategory of category Sevastopol, that included in both Russian and Ucrainian categories via community consensus. If you continue edit warring your account may be blocked. Danke.--Soul Train (talk) 13:18, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

If you would like to add a Russian category (I'm not too familiar with these, just copied the Ukrainian category you removed), go ahead, but don't remove the Ukrainian one again. I would discourage you from making any threats, even if you get a little emotional.    FDMS  4    13:22, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
Hello @Soul Train, your tone is rather hostile (block warning after a simple cat add), and I can't say I appreciate that. Remember that we're all volunteers and colleagues, and that Commons is a collaborative project and not a battleground. If you'd like to discuss, which I am happy to do, then I must insist that you please rephrase your statements in a polite, cordial way. If your reason is really then simply first the main Category:Sevastopol need to be fixed. Thanks,User: Perhelion (Commons: = crap?)16:25, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
I don't like when category of city of Russian glory including in category of Ukraine, state that now ruling by serious false accusation, rusofobs, and fans of Bandera, state that killing own citizens in Donbass and Lugansk, using cassete bombs and bombs with White phosphorus, state where you can be killed if you have another opinion... But I'll wait until your Western society understand the situation. Understand that all your sanctions means nothing. Crimea and Sevastopol are Russian territories, and nothing could change this. This template was a consensus, I don't like it (Crimea is not Ukrainian anymore), but everybody must respect this consensus.--Soul Train (talk) 20:48, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
You are using my talkpage to promote the political views of your country's mainstream media instead of discussing a change that after all you would like to make. As you are obviously not willing to talk about it in a constructive manner I am going to revert it, again referring you to Template:Crimea notice which clearly states [please] do not remove either of these [Russian and Ukrainian] categories. If you want Category:Coats of arms of Sevastopol to be in a Russian parent category as well, you will have to add it yourself.    FDMS  4    21:22, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
[reply] It is because I am opposed to the victim theory and because I know that there is nothing as cruel as the Holocaust in contemporary history that I do not tolerate any Nazi-calling (except for convicted criminals) on my talkpage.    FDMS  4    17:23, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Queen/Princess

Hello FDMS4, Beatrix of the Netherlands is nowadays again commonly being referred to as 'Princess' since her abdication in April 2013 (see en:Beatrix of the Netherlands and other wikis). This is a change compared to the situation in 2012, when the files that I requested to be renamed were uploaded. Best regards, Apdency (talk) 11:23, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, but no, I won't rename them as a) this is not an obvious error and b) Commons aims to provide stable file names. This is a person who once had the status of a queen, and was therefore called Queen Beatrix. The situation would be different if the person was a former taxi driver, as using "Taxi driver [name] [situation, not driving a taxi]" could be misleading (criterion #3).    FDMS  4    16:52, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

File:Addax3 (1).jpg

I'm not sure I understand why you declined the move/rename. The file was called Addax3 on the English Wikipedia. This conflicted with a different file on Commons, so someone transferred it as Addax3 (1). This name is inappropriate, as the (1) implies to many a duplicate/derivative version of Addax3 (which it's not). I believe it was called Addax3 on Wikipedia for the sole reason that Wikipedia already had two images of the Addax. I thought it might be best that we add something useful to the name. I'd use the geographic location except the uploader did not provide it and the uploader is now inactive. All we have now is the year. Therefore, the image, which displays an Addax in 2006, will have a meaningful name. All the best, Mackensen (talk) 21:09, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

✓ Done, thank you very much for the detailled explanation! I added some more available detail to the filename.    FDMS  4    21:38, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Rename for some images you have uploaded

Hi FDMS4! first of all I would like to apologize for the things I have done before and I hope that we could set that all aside and start anew. To show goodfaith, I opened this topic to formally ask for your permission to rename some of your uploaded and reuploaded images regarding LRT-1, MRT-2, and MRT-3 into uniform names. Such rename is intended for the ease of usage when revising or creating a new article. With that I thank you and I would await your favorable reply. PhilippineRevolution (talk) 02:36, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi! I'm sorry, but no, I think that the two images I've uploaded (File:Magallanes interchange Makati 2008-09.jpg and File:Interior of Tatra RT8D5 in Manila 2006-05.jpg) already have "perfect" filenames.    FDMS  4    07:21, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi I understand maybe I would just ask the original uploaders Mitril Cloud and Exec8 if they would allow me for the rename. I guess they still have a say on their images being the original uploaders. But anyways thanks for replying.PhilippineRevolution (talk) 14:15, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
I've had a closer look at your talk page comment and I noticed that you did not specify what the new names would look like. In case the reply is "I don't care about the filename", this would not be covered by criterion #1.    FDMS  4    15:17, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Indisputable filename

Hi, FDMS4. You rejected my reasonable proposal. But I believe that Commons must prefer indisputable filename to disputed filename. You can read File talk:Yang Kyoungjong.jpg. Thank you. Takabeg (talk) 10:07, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, but if the picture is commonly being associated with that person, having the name of the person as the filename is fine. On Commons, we don't have anything such as a WP:POV policy, just a filemoving criterion for obvious errors.    FDMS  4    16:38, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
File:Interior of Tatra RT8D5 in Manila 2006-05.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi INeverCry, thank you very much for your RFA offer! Unfortunately, I'm very busy at the moment, but I will take you up on it this fall or winter. @Bwag: These 5 images did not look like de minimis for me, but to be easily able to learn and expand one's knowledge is one of the great advantages of being comparatively young, right :) ?    FDMS  4    10:46, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Permission for File:König der Könige.jpg

Hello FDMS4,

What is the status of the permission for https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:K%C3%B6nig_der_K%C3%B6nige.jpg? --Holdek (talk) 15:18, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

@Holdek: Were you the one who asked this question in an eMail sent 3 days ago? If yes: Please check your spam folder, the eMail I have sent you on 2014-06-22 was:

Sehr geehrter recipient,

No, I'm not the person who e-mailed you. I'm checking because the apparent lack of confirmed permission was one of the reasons I proposed the deletion of this page on English Wikipedia. --Holdek (talk) 09:15, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Why? Geagea (talk) 21:11, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Andrea_de_andrade_-_imperio_de_casa_verde.jpg

Dear FDMS, I made a mistake when I editing the summary of the page.I forgot to put permission.I added the next text to the picture:"This image, was posted on Mr. Carlos Roberto de Oliveira website http://apatotadopitaco.blogspot.ro/2013/02/musas-das-escolas-de-samba-de-sao-paulo.html . The picture was licensed under the license below. The type of license is specified at the bottom of the website." I'm sorry for this omission. Please verify yourself on the bottom of the site of the author. The photo wikimedia link is: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Andrea_de_andrade_-_imperio_de_casa_verde.jpg#.7B.7Bint:filedesc.7D.7D With consideration, Adrian Cernat Leedskalnin (talk) 19:53, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

@Leedskalnin: This license, not this one. Try {{Cc-by-nc-nd-3.0}} :) .    FDMS  4    20:32, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

FDMS,now I understand. Ok, I must ask the author for the license Creative Commons-Attribution by 3.0 Unported. If I receive the mail with granted license from the author (with the standard text from permission OTRS)I will forward to OTRS and I will communicate you the result from OTRS. Please wait a couple of days.If I don't succeed you may delete the picture. Tank you, with consideration,Leedskalnin (talk) 08:06, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Dear FDMS, I send the mail to Mr. Carlos Roberto de Oliveira, in which I ask him to send to permission OTRS the mail with standard template form for granted license. As soon as I have the response from Mr. Carlos I let you know.

Thank you very much! Leedskalnin (talk) 08:57, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

@Leedskalnin: Please make sure he sends his eMail directly to OTRS as we cannot accept forwarded eMails. If we do not receive (and process) an eMail until 2014-09-21, the file will be deleted, but afterwards could still easily get restored.    FDMS  4    19:19, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
FDMS, I understand.I will explained this to Mr.Carlos.Thank you very much.
FDMS,

Dear Sir, I don't receive any answer from Mr. Carlos. So, please delete the picture because I was discussed with another photograph from Brazil, Mr.Mauricio Roja wich already has sended to OTRS the authorization mail for another picture.Soon I will receive an answer from OTRS I will upload the new photo. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Leedskalnin (talk) 06:00, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

@Leedskalnin: The file has already been deleted, but thanks for letting us know anyways!    FDMS  4    02:06, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
FDMS,

Dear Sir, thank you fot deleting this picture,Mr.Carlos don't send me anything.Anyway,I have received today the OTRS permission for another picture of Andrea de Andrade far better than this deleted. Thank you again for you objectivity, keep doing this great job! With much consideration, Sincerely, Adrian Cernat Leedskalnin (talk) 15:55, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

I'm totally confused

The template, like many templates, is completely unhelpful. I don't understand what I have failed to do to make clear that I'm using a properly-licensed Flickr photo here. What have I done wrong? --Orange Mike | Talk 12:24, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

Reverting File:WESTbahn im Tullnerfeld.JPG

As far as I know Freilassing has nothing to do with either Tullnerfeld or Michelhausen. The closest one is a locality in Herzogsdorf (Oberösterreich), which is not on the Westbahn line. Otherwise, if you mean Freilassing in Germany, it would be wiser to relate to Salzburg instead, which is the west endpoint of the Westbahn line. Carlotm (talk) 20:39, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

@Carlotm: The WESTbahn service between the Salzburg main train station and the (Salzburg) Freilassing train station has only been discontinued recently.    FDMS  4    21:57, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
