Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel irc:wikimedia-commons #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Hi, i guess you are the Flickruser and you are the author of the image, so thank you very much for contributing to Wikimedia Commons. To source the images to Flickr is a small problem: You licenced this image on Flickr with cc-by-nd, nd is not accepted here - only free images are accepted that every one can use for every purpose. So probably you will get some notes because of copyright violations on this talk page. You can prevent this by changing the Flickr licence (what will be also build confidence) or you can "re-source" your image here at Commons with source = own work instead of the flickrlink. If there are any questions please ask, i will try to answer (even with a bad english). --Martin H. (talk) 02:16, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, i forgot, the blimp image will be also affected because it is also sourced to flickr where it is "all rights reserved", only cc-by and cc-by-sa are accepted here, but there are also a various number of different licences aviable: {{GFDL}}, {{Copyrighted Free Use}}, {{Cc-by-3.0}} and {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}}, a lot of different cc licences including some mixtures for commercial and private use (like {{Cc-by-nc-sa-2.0-dual}}) and many more, see Commons:Copyright tags
- NOTE: Flickr images can only be placed on WikiCommons if they are licensed on flickr through either "Attribution Creative Commons" (cc by 2.0) or "Attribution-ShareAlike-Creative Commons." (cc by sa 2.0) The image here and that of Terry Anderson is licensed on flickr as "Attribution-NoDerivs Creative Commons" which is Not considered free enough for use on Commons. So, you should change the license to one of the 2 options above. I hope this helps. --Leoboudv (talk) 06:26, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- This is a flickr image [1] which was licensed simply as 'Attribution Creative Commons' for this Commons picture: Image:Vase of Tutankhamun1.jpg Your uploaded flickr images all have a non-derivate use license restriction which means they can't be used on Commons until you change the flickr license. It cames like i said: the image was nominated for speedy deletion because the flickrreviw failed, i recreated it and started the regualr deletion request (this is a thing i must do to clarify the situation). --Martin H. (talk) 18:34, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

- if you are the author of this image, i have sent you an email, asking for re licensing this image under a creative commons license accepted by Wikimedia Commons policy.--Lilyu (talk) 04:24, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, i found your other image, Image:KKK.JPG which is the same (i think), but with a license which is ok for Commons (cc-by-sa-2.0). The problem with Image:KKK_CROSS_BURN.JPG is that the source was licensed cc-by-no derivative. I propose we keep the correct licensed one, and delete the duplicate, is it ok wih you ? (in such a case, please ignore my email, sorry
