E-post / Wiki Loves Monuments

[edit]

(don't understand Swedish? Read this message in English!)

Hej!

There is another version of your map File:Folklands.png with slightly different borders, File:Nyafolkland.png, done by User:FBQ. I'd like to make an SVG version of the map, but I don't know which one is correct. Can you please tell me what is the source for these borders and names? Best regards, Nelg (talk) 14:23, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My map is based on the one used by Nationalencyklopedin, showing the borders in about 1350. There was a problem that the old map showed the border of the "härader" from after 1650, wich made the map anacronistic. The old map hade som other oddeties that make me sure that its originally copied from Gerhard Hafströms Ledung och marklandsindelning (1949) where he suggests a "Great-Vendel" in the merovingian period. That is outdated theories, the folklands are no longer believed to be older than 12:th century, perhaps with some early predecessor in 11:th century. He believed the north part of Roden originally belonged to the "Great Vendel", thus the coast line of northen Uppland not being part of Roden, instead som of it part of Tiundaland. Medival records show lots of different juridical borders here, so its hard to divide whats usually called "Norra Roden" but nothing suggest otherwise than this region originally and in most documents been part of Roden. Gästrikland as being part of Tiundaland is based on a taxation from 1312, but there is no evidence that suggests proof of the region i older history being part of Uppland, so that marking. Hafström suggested this showing that Gästrikland originally been part of this "Great-Vendel", but this is considered an outdated theory.--FBQ (talk) 10:05, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I know my map isn't very good, would make a new one if i was better at making maps. Perhaps someone else can, there is plenty of more modern litterature with more accurate maps. --FBQ (talk) 10:08, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vinnarbilden i Wiki Loves Earth!

Hej!

(For information in English, see Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in Sweden or other participating countries.)

/Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 14:24, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
