Hola.

Hm, there are no longer any Wikimedia trademarks on it, but Image:Gay Pride at Christopher Street Parade Berlin.jpg is licensed as GFDL, so you can't put the resulting Image:Portada - Homosexualidad en los Estados Unidos.png under CC-BY-SA-3.0; it must also be GFDL. Lupo 15:24, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That the other image is CC-BY is not a problem, as CC-BY is not viral (like CC-BY-SA is) and does not impose any restrictions on the license of a derivative work. Just make sure that you also properly attribute the authors of the original images used for the title image in the brochure. (Which, BTW, looks very good! Congratulations!)
As to getting permission for the use of the Wikipedia logo: I don't think you'll get that. See the previous deletion comment. Lupo 20:50, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image: Metro de Kiev

[edit]

Hola.

Hi. I created the PNG form of this image. On the talk page of the Stonewall riots article on English Wikipedia, the PNG and SVG images are next to each other (Talk:Stonewall_riots#Layout_of_the_Stonewall_Inn_image). For some reason, the SVG form of this image is not as professional looking as the PNG. I think it may have to do with the font style in the image. I recall the SVG was added to the article a few months ago and I think I replaced it with the PNG just because it did not look as good. Please see the talk page for the Stonewall riots article; I don't know why an SVG would be preferable over a PNG. Image formattng is not my strong point. However, I am sensitive to what should look as professional as possible. I would like to know your thoughts on this. I am rarely ever logged in to Commons. I spend most of my time at English Wikipedia. Thank you. --Moni3 (talk) 22:24, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ecelan!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Please help replace this outdated license

[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

The images we would like you to check are:

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hi. I have changed the copyvio to delete, to discuss your request. Have a look in Category:Logos, and you see that the threshold is not as rigid as you might think. ZH2010 (talk) 12:33, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
