First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], which produces: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper
Made a mistake?
  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|correct name}}
  • For more information read the full deletion guidelines
(P.S. Would you like to provide feedback on this message?)

Scientific names

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your images. In the future, if you can, could you please provide the scientific names of the birds ? Not everybody can understand your language.. Yours, Frédéric (talk) 13:46, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In which country did you take the photo Rosenkrantz_mfl.JPG

[edit]

I have seen you photo File:Rosenkrantz_mfl.JPG. Could you please add to the description in which country and city you took te photo? May be also name of the building (church?). Thanks Wouter (talk) 08:31, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done! --Eaglestein (talk) 11:56, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A Question

[edit]

Are these 3 photos I took classified as a 'stove plate' or not? I don't know the right category for them. I took the pictures at a University museum in Vancouver, Canada.

Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 02:04, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This was a tricky one. I am not sure. I think of iron-plates as stove plates, but I think there should be an own category for stove tiles. Eaglestein (talk) 11:59, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • That is what I was afraid of but that is quite OK. At least I clearly identified the objects as a stove tile so a future user can identify it. I don't know what else I can do here to add a category to them...but such is life. It is not perfect. I did check for stove tiles here and found nothing....though I did find a cat for this image:
  • File:C.1560 Tiled Stove (UBC).jpg

But that is not very rare compared to a single tile. Well thank you for your help, Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 07:25, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Opplasting av bilder

[edit]

Takknemlig for svar. Mvh. Mbakkel2 27. aug 2010 kl. 17:49 (CEST)

Men husk å legge inn kategori. Eaglestein (talk) 22:19, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your picture in QIC

[edit]
Hello Eaglestein,
My apologize for the "decline" vote in QIC.
I've had a look to your gallery, and I think you need a better camera...
In my opinion (I'm not a specialist, only an "amateur"), you have a very good "eye".
Don't become discouraged because of this failure, and please try other nominations.
Cheers from Paris,--Jebulon (talk) 09:17, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hei - thank you - that is all right! I know that I should have had a new camera, my Nikon D50 is 6 years old. But I think I rather continue without trying to get any "prize" here :-) --Eaglestein (talk) 21:13, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I ahve nominate your picture Sturnus vulgaris no.JPG as Featured picture candidate here. Regards, Vibhijain (talk) 16:51, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! :-) Eaglestein

A cup of coffee for you!

Thank you very much for your kind words! I was just about to make me a cup of coffee myself, but now this can wait... You may come and join me!? Eaglestein (talk) 07:08, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alfstadloftet

[edit]

Hei!

Mh Eaglestein (talk) 22:05, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Flora of Store Ble

[edit]

Hi, I've created a category Blefjell now and found your nice gallery Flora of Store Ble. Could it be that you mean Blenuten instead of Store Ble? You describe it as the northern part of Blefjell in Rollag kommune, but Store Ble is the southern part of Blefjell and in Tinn kommune, also more than 1300moh. mange hilsner --Sjokolade (talk) 08:08, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Takk for hjelpen :-) --Sjokolade (talk) 06:55, 17 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
