Thanks for uploading File:200901 EPFL Wendy Lee Queen Portrait.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Hello, EPFL-MEDIACOM. Thanks for utilizing the COM:OTRS process to grant free use of File:200901 EPFL Wendy Lee Queen Portrait.jpg. I would suggest that free use rights for every photograph originally taken by employees of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne be confirmed via OTRS because the institution's English-language website claims that all work is "© 2020 EPFL, all rights reserved". Currently, File:200918 EPFL Raffaella Buonsanti Portrait.jpg, File:191030 EPFL Claudia R. Binder.jpg, File:208031 EPFL David Suter Sox2.jpg, File:200831 EPFL David Suter Portrait cut.jpg, File:Portrait of Jacques Fellay in 2020.jpg, File:Bart Deplancke Portrait 2017.jpg, File:200902 EPFL Joachim Lingner Portrait.jpg, File:200903 EPFL Aude Billard Portrait.jpg, File:200903 EPFL Katerina Argyraki Portrait.jpg, File:200915 EPFL Pierre Gönczy Cropped RPE1 EXPANSION AcTubA647m btubA594r v4.png, File:200915 EPFL Pierre Gönczy Portrait.jpg, File:Paola Viganò.jpg, File:Urs von Gunten.jpg, File:Michele de Palma in 2011.jpg, File:Andrea Rinaldo in 2020.jpg, File:200915 EPFL Pierre Gönczy Two Cell Embryo.png, File:200916 EPFL Raffaella Buonsanti Portrait.jpg, File:20200917 EPFL Suliana Manley Portrait.jpg, File:Anders Meibom in 2020.jpg, and File:Konrad Steffen in 2012.jpg are credited to the EPFL but are not tagged. I advise that any future uploads of any work credited to the EPFL be accompanied by the OTRS tag. Thanks. Vycl1994 (talk) 17:21, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, Vycl1994! Thanks for advising. Am I allowed to use the OTRS tag from File:200901 EPFL Wendy Lee Queen Portrait.jpg on all the other uploaded images as I just did with File:200918 EPFL Raffaella Buonsanti Portrait.jpg? Many thanks! Best, EPFL-MEDIACOM (talk) 12:04, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- I am not an OTRS reviewer, so I have asked someone with the appropriate access to look into it. You are welcome to follow the discussion. Vycl1994 (talk) 22:58, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Vycl1994, Diannaa, Fitindia, Túrelio, and Josve05a: I am sorry for the miscommunication. The text we were sent conflicted with a file we were sent. I have asked for (and been granted) undeletion of two files redlinked on this page at COM:UDR#EPFL-MEDIACOM files. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 16:30, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

- use in any work, regardless of content
- creation of derivative works
- commercial use

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.Yours sincerely, - FitIndia Talk ✉ 04:33, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hello User:Fitindia! There is a ticket (Ticket:2020091610019129) stating that all pictures by EPFL and the author Alain Herzog can be used with the CC4.0 license. Where has the ticket to be posted in the future so the media will not deleted again. Many thanks for advising! Best, EPFL-MEDIACOM (talk) 07:55, 1 October 2020 (UTC)

Túrelio (talk) 08:52, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
Hi, per metadata (C) is by "Alain Herzog". So, he needs to confirm the license to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org . --Túrelio (talk) 08:52, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Túrelio, we have a ticket for that. Who can we state that? Which of the two has to posted in the permission section? "permission={{PermissionOTRS|id=2020091610019129}}" or [[Ticket:2020091610019129]]. Most of the pictures uploaded are by Alain Herzog and owned by EPFL that releases the rights to CC4.0. - Please use neither. Instead, I have taken the liberty of creating {{EPFL}} for you as "a general [template] for all [your] uploads", so all you need to do is use "{{EPFL}}" as the license, without further ado. That categorizes your 45 files into Category:Portraits from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 16:38, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
- Dear Jeff G., that is great news. Many thanks indeed for your clarification, assistance and your kind help! We shall use the license as you did it for the other uploads from now on. Thanks again and kind regards, EPFL-MEDIACOM (talk) 08:12, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
