Sambalpuri Din - ସମ୍ବଲପୁରୀ ଦିନ୍

Sambalpuri Din (day) is being observed today on August 1 across Western Odisha. The day marks the birth anniversary of poet Satya Narayan Bohidar and Shreedhar Pradhan, who have contributed immensely to the Sambalpuri language and culture.   Many organizations along with district administrations are involved in celebration of Sambalpuri day among whom Sambalpuri Ekata Manch is the leading Front.

Born in Subarnapur on August 1, 1913, Bohidar is one of the pioneer of the Sambalpuri language and grammar. On his 100th birth anniversary in 2013, started celebrating the day as ‘Sambalpuri Din’. To celebrate his birthday and raise awareness about his contributions, the district administration has asked all officials to wear the Sambalpuri dress on Monday.
