Find out the dates: "Chinese coins can be a real challenge to collect as Chinese characters may turn off people who find them difficult to read. Dates are dated in sexagenary cycle. For more information, please read here: Sexagenary Cycle." Linked article seems defunct, I believe that I have made a similar table at Wikipedia somewhere. "I have added a table at the end. Even the English spelling of the provinces can be off putting as they were spelt in Wade-Giles. On top of that, with so much counterfeits cranked out every minute, it makes collecting Chinese coins totally undesirable." While I agree with the fact that Wade-Giles is a very ugly and off-putting system it also makes searching for them at eBay for scans more difficult for the Wikimedia Commons as some use the phonetic names and other the dysnetic (dysphonetic?) Names. "However, never assume that genuine Chinese coins are cheap - try looking for a crown size or dollar sized silver coins. Let me know if you can find any undamaged example, (even if low grade) to be sold under 100 dollars. Update: from the middle of 2010, most dollar sized silver coins have struck the 1,000 dollar mark in XF-UNC condition. No comment section present on page, requires e-mail contact which is often difficult due to spam filters. Even during the Republican era some archaic dates remained to be used, especially on overstruck ones. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 09:10, 22 March 2022 (UTC) .

In need of feedback

Hello. I am planning to propose WCommons gets the equivalent to en:Wikipedia:Consensus. Could you tell me what you think of my proposal? Thanks in advance. Here it is:

I feel en:Wikipedia:Consensus should also apply on WCommons, if not as a policy at least as a guideline (see en:Wikipedia:The difference between policies, guidelines and essays for more precisions on what I mean).
I would be useful to have this guidelins on WCommons for example when disagreements arise concerning which version of an image should be used or whether an image that complies with WCommons' copyright policies should be kept or not (see e.g. Commons:Deletion requests/File:Hot sex barnstar.png).
The main difference the version on WCommons would have are:

Veverve (talk) 00:10, 27 March 2022 (UTC)

@Veverve: , I like the idea of having a single page to explain to contributors (and others interested in "how the sausage is made" to read about the process), in general I don't think that the Wikimedia Commons' definition of "consensus" is different from the English-language Wikipedia's. Regarding the Precautionary principle it always takes precedent over consensus as you can't vote to change copyright laws on this website and difficult cases (like the one you linked) are always going to be based on a realistic interpretation of existing and enforced copyright laws.
As for the project scope, the thing about it is that the term "educational" is a very vague concept for what one could and couldn't consider to be educational and it's up for interpretation. That is, what one person sees as realistically useful to educate people another would see as not useful. For example, a lot of news articles like those found in Neuroscience News use stock images to illustrate concepts which sometimes include people, however, many contributors here would immediately nominate such images as "out of scope, unused personal images" if they would come across them and the deciding factor would be the admin that closes the deletion request and (s)he will also have his/her biases. In fact, the project scope is essentially one based on the consensus of what users do or don't find to be realistically educational.
I would say that a wholesale copy of the English-language Wikipedia's page on "consensus" with localisations here and there based on existing policies and guidelines would be a good import. Did you create a draft of such a page yet? --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 06:03, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for your input! I have created a draft art User:Veverve/Consensus. Please do not hesite to improve it. Veverve (talk) 15:17, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
