Recent changes
- You can now write all special letters in all African Wikipedia languages. This works in the desktop version. [1]
- There is now a field called
depicts
on Commons. This is a way to show what is in a picture with the help of Wikidata. It is still in development. [2] - Some tools on Toolforge may break on or after 3 June because of database changes. Maintainers should update their tools to use the new schema. [3][4]
Problems
- You will be able to read but not to edit Wikimedia Commons for 30 minutes on 19 June at 05:00 (UTC). This is to fix a hardware problem. [5]
Changes later this week
- Some wikis have one tab for the visual editor and one tab for a wikitext editor. Others wikis just have one tab. If your wiki has two tabs, clicking a link to create a new page has always opened a wikitext editor. It will now open the editor you used the last time you edited. [6]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 4 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 5 May. It will be on all wikis from 6 May (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 5 May at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.

Test URL (massive categorisation)
Findings logs: Limitations increased, however Cat-a-lot doesn't seem to function beyond this point as it doesn't seem to appear. Test URL from Cat-a-lot:
Copied from Cat-a-lot for a non-existing category. Using Alexis Jazz' technique I've managed to load 5000 (five-thousand) files, however the number of files needing categorisation greatly exceeds this. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 23:28, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- Which files is this about anyway? - Alexis Jazz ping plz 23:34, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: Various numismatic files to be organised by source, some only have a few hundred results and others have over a few thousand results
and others a few, Cat-a-lot doesn't load after displaying 500 (five-hundred) results. It's not necessarily important educational work, but it's maintenance ⛑🏻 work I want to use in order to see which sources are the most popular and will allow me to see which filesdon't need to be importedare already imported/uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 23:46, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

Heraldische wapens van Nederland
Moi @Quistnix: ,
Weet jij trouwens of er een organisatie is die alle historische en huidige wapens van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden documenteert? Ik wil zo'n organisatie vragen om hun afbeeldingen aan Wikimedia Commons te doneren. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 18:00, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
--Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 18:38, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Recent changes
- When you create a PDF from a page on the wiki this is now done by Proton. Before this we used Electron. It should look the same but work better. Both use Chromium. This is a different system from when you collect several articles into a book and make a PDF from them. [7][8]
- The Flagged Revisions extension now uses the standard OOUI icons. There will be additional minor fixes for positioning in the next deployment. [9]
- Bots and other scripts that do not set an identifiable User-Agent may find their requests strictly rate-limited until they identify themselves properly. [10]
Problems
- Please check if the Flagged Revisions configuration on your wiki is as you expect (or as it was a few weeks ago). If not, please report it. [11]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 12 June at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.

WikiMail notice
As my Google Mail (GMail) became full last week (or so) became "full" (mostly my Google Drive, but Google counts their storage together) so I didn't receive any WikiMail for a couple of days. I have however contacted a number of people with this Google Mail account, because Microsoft doesn't merge Microsoft Drive storage with Microsoft Outlook storage I have opted to make a new Microsoft account for WikiMail, also even if a Microsoft inbox is filled Microsoft won't bounce all incoming e-mails as Google does, this is not an endorsement of Microsoft's services however, I only explain my reasoning.
However Microsoft requires people to register their mobile telephone number to be able to send e-mails and as I do not have a personal mobile telephone number I am unable to send e-mails using this address. Anyone who wish to re-establish offwiki contact please send me an e-mail, I am currently unable to send anyone an e-mail so please excuse me for not updating anyone directly. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 07:36, 12 June 2019 (UTC).
This notice will stay here for a week or so. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 07:36, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
Daily gallery updater has failed on User:Donald Trung/OgreBot/Coins
Hello. This message is to inform you that a daily gallery in your userspace, User:Donald Trung/OgreBot/Coins, has failed. Due to software limitations, the bot has a hard upper-limit of about 6000 files per day (including overflow galleries), while your gallery had 18051 files.
This usually happens because a gallery is too broad, encompassing too many subcategories. Please review the logs here and request that a subcategory be excluded, or narrow your category choice(s).
Please make your request for removal within 4 days, or your gallery will be subject to removal.
Thank you. Magog the Ogre (via OgreBot (talk) 03:40, 11 June 2019 (UTC))

Structured Data - testing qualifiers for depicts
As you might have seen, testing is underway for adding qualifiers to depicts statements. If you have not left feedback already, the Structured Data on Commons development team is very interested in hearing about your experience using qualifiers on the file page and in the UploadWizard. To get started you can visit Test-Commons and chose a random file to test out, or upload your own file to try out the UploadWizard. Questions, comments, and concerns can be left on the Structured data talk page and the team will address them as best as they can. Thank you for your time. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 19:08, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
