User talk:Diastar~commonswiki
Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Hi, according to Image talk:Shiprock.snodgrass3.jpg i just removed the deletion request and replaced it with a template which calls for permission. You need a written permission of the author and rightholder and send it to the following email adress. Please read the instructions below. --Martin H. (talk) 03:04, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- By the way: the image on flickr has a much larger size (3008x2000), you just uploaded it with a medium size (500x333). Maybe you can ask for the higher resolution, otherwise this image is not prior to other free images of the same object. --Martin H. (talk) 03:12, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Shiprock.snodgrass3.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Shiprock.snodgrass3.jpg. This image is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org).
Unless the permission information is given, the image may be speedy deleted after seven days. Thank you. --Martin H. (talk) 03:04, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, one last idea: much easier would be, to change the licence one Flickr to cc-by-sa. Maybe just for a short time, after it is reviewed on commons it can be changed back to cc-by-nc on Flickr. But: if the image ones puplished under cc-by-sa on commons, everyone can copy it and use it under the terms of the licence, the commercial use can't be avioded then. --Martin H. (talk) 03:23, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your super speed. The license holder has agreed and I will ask her to send the email. She is delighted to have the photo up on wikipedia! Diastar (talk) 11:14, 28 July 2008 (UTC)diastar
- Done, image is now licenced on Flickr as cc-by which is compatible to commons. Realy nice image, see de:Shiprock i.e.! --Martin H. (talk) 22:36, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Diastar. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Diastar~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
