Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 21:35, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.--Roy17 (talk) 02:17, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

Hong Kong
[edit]FYI, Deryck. [1] [2][3] 219.76.24.194 03:16, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message. I've had a brief look at the discussions and don't think I have anything to add. Deryck Chan (talk) 23:54, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you. This particular user and his associates (Matthew hk and Padgriffin as far as I have observed) are now acting to revert whatever edits made from IP addresses from Hong Kong no matter what those edits are about. Some administrators also block Hong Kong addresses as soon as their edits are spotted. I myself rarely if ever made any edits related to any "obscured" (as Citobun puts it) place names but got routinely blocked and reverted too. Actions coherent with those crackdowns? 219.76.24.204 11:06, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not sure and I don't know what "mass reverts" you're talking about. Please register an account so we can have a coherent discussion. Deryck Chan (talk) 16:03, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
- For your information, Matthew hk's and Citobun's edits, in particular, target Hong Kong's status and cultural heritage too. What they do is to erase Hong Kong's heritage with lack of citations and "obscurity" as disguises, and the latter referred to Instantnood (yes once again there are people doing so). All you have to do is to inspect their reverts to edits made by non-registered users from Hong Kong, and see the harm the trio have brought, along with some administrators and other editors (like Ymblanter, 331dots, HurricaneEdgar). Nothing has been established by any investigation and administrators are already acting as their servants to act according to a long, catch-all list they prepare with little evidence beyond reasonable doubt. Thanks. 219.76.24.207 07:48, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

- Citobun has successfully made MSGJ impose a very broad range block of a /16 range for a long period. Is there anything we may do to act against vandals like them? 219.76.24.195 08:29, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
Please register an account. The blocks you're referring to only affect very new or unregistered editors. Deryck Chan (talk) 11:27, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
