OTRS
[edit]Dear Vera. Sorry. I was sure that they sent the premission to the OTRS team already... I see they didn't. These are all the pictures the official photographer of the Israel Wikimedia Chapter (Ariel) took I'll have them send it right away for all the pictures... Thanks... Daryag (talk) 08:24, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
- If you take a picture of a copyright protected work, you then don't have the right to publish that work without getting permission from the original author. See Derivative work. --Vera (talk) 09:15, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- Dear Vera. I got the permission from the photographer. I sent it to our OTRS team. I hope that they will be able to fix it... Is there anything else I need to do to make sure the pictures are o.k.? Thanks. Daryag (talk) 09:52, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- Did you read COM:DW? It's not the photographer you would need permission from to make these copyvio's ok. In one case, it's the logo of DuckDuckGo that is copyright protected. It's of no benefit to a company to wave the copyright protection of a company logo. In others, they're photographs of photographs and it's photographers whose photos are being used by the museum portion of the place where we had the hackathon. Finding out who it is you need to get permission from is pretty impossible in these cases. --Vera (talk) 14:41, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- Daryag, Vera trying to say that photograph of photograph does not coverd by FoP-Israel. It covers only "an architectural work, a work of sculpture or work of applied art". still it might be qualify as {{PD-Israel}}. but you need to chack the date that the photo taken.
- Vera, this is an FoP case. It should go through regular DR and not NSD or speedy. -- Geagea (talk) 16:04, 21 April 2016 (UTC)

Did you even look at the pictures? How is a logo displayed on a laptop screen covered under FOP? FOP applies to work permanently on display in public. None of this was in public. A picture of a picture is a derivative work.Vera (talk) 17:50, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'm talking about File:The Jerusalem Hackathon (207).JPG. -- Geagea (talk) 18:01, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- it's not in public and it's not a permanent fixture so how on earth has FOP anything to do with this? There is no info on when and by whom the photograph in the photograph was taken, making it impossible to determine if it might be PD. The authorship of Ariel is irrelevant. Vera (talk) 18:59, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- Anyway, Regarding to File:Hackathon 2016 (441).JPG. The permition is from the photographer. You may to made regular DR for that as well. -- Geagea (talk) 18:05, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- Dear Geagea and Vera. Thanks for the explanation. I didn't realise what was the problem. The picture I believe is from 1920, but I'm still chcking on that... As for the logos I don't have permission from them, I'll check with our chapter if I can get it... I'll update you as soon as I can. Thanks again. Daryag (talk) 19:40, 21 April 2016 (UTC)

And:
The pictures used for the notices have a free licenses, so they're OK for commons, but they do need to have the attribution adjusted. Who made the picture is printed on the card but I can not make it out in the picture of these picturesVera (talk) 17:08, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- Dear Vera. The picture within the pictures were taken from wiki commons and displayes with the credits. I'll get the full list and add the information appropiatly... Is that the problem with the picture? or is there anything else? Thanks. Daryag (talk) 12:00, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open!
[edit]You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.
Dear Daryag,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.
In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.
Thanks,
--Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 08:41, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
En Esur photograph
[edit]Dear Daryag, I've just created the article En Esur, a recently discovered and important archaeological site in northern Israel, and I see from this link [1] that the Israel Antiquities Authority has produced some beautiful images of the site.
Do you think you might be able to organize the upload of some representative images (or at the very lease one image) of the site, in coordination with the Israel Antiquities Authority?
Sincerely, -Darouet (talk) 16:38, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
- Dear Darouet. I'm not sure. I'll check. Daryag (talk) 18:31, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you Daryag! -Darouet (talk) 23:01, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
- P.S. Daryag, En Esur has now been promoted to the front page of Wikipedia, in their "In the News" section. If you're able to post something soon, thousands of people will see the image! OK if it doesn't work out. -Darouet (talk) 13:15, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
- Dear Darouet. I wasn't able to fine something yet. It's the holiday season here, and a lot of people are away. I'm still waiting to hear from some people. I'll update you when I hear back. Daryag (talk) 19:06, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
