Savage I-95 rest area
[edit]Not sure that name is appropriate since I don't think its in the CDP boundaries. Famartin (talk) 20:10, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
- Are you sure of that? Check out the borders on the map. I also saw an address somewhere indicating that Savage was on the northbound side and North Laurel was on the southbound side. ----DanTD (talk) 20:33, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

County level sign cats
[edit]Thinking further... if you are gonna do county level sign gantry sub-divisions, then you need to do this for the road sign cat in general. That sounds like a very large undertaking. Famartin (talk) 21:00, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
Road sign gantries
[edit]I'm not sure I know the definition of a road sign gantry. I thought a road sign gantry went across the road. Are these photos both of road sign gantries?
--Mjrmtg (talk) 10:20, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- Personally, I too always thought they went straight across. ----DanTD (talk) 11:08, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- Since we both agree, I'll keep them just as road signs. --Mjrmtg (talk) 18:20, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
What category name would you suggest?
[edit]There is a stretch where Interstate 75 and Interstate 85 merge together in the Atlanta area. What do you suggest this category be called?
--Mjrmtg (talk) 18:20, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hmm, tough choice. I'd either consider "Downtown Connector (Atlanta, Georgia)" or "Interstates 75 and 85 in Atlanta, Georgia..." or some variant of the two names. --DanTD (talk) 18:26, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
- I was leaning towards "Interstate 75/85 in Atlanta" but I like your suggestion of "Downtown Connector (Atlanta, Georgia). --Mjrmtg (talk) 14:53, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
Gantries
[edit]I've noticed you've removed some signs which are gantries out of the gantries category. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gantry_(road_sign) "Gantries may be cantilevered or one sided on the left, right and center (sometimes referred to as a half-gantry or Butterfly gantry), or they may be bridges with poles on each side." FYI. Famartin (talk) 07:26, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Would you mind if I merge your message with the discussion above? Either way, the specific sign categories I added are still correct. You've got your Interchange Advance Guide signs and Interchange Exit Directional Signs, and others. ----DanTD (talk) 09:39, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
Interchange Exit Direction signs in Florida and Exit ramp signs in Florida
[edit]I'm trying to understand the difference between the 2 categories and why isn't one the parent category of another. Could you explain the difference between the 2 categories? Thanks. --Mjrmtg (talk) 11:32, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- I was wondering about that myself. My best guess is that "Exit ramp signs" might also cover exit speed advisory signs or other relevant features of those ramps. --DanTD (talk) 13:07, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
Hello, what changed here? What should I have done differently? I'm still learning about categories. Best, Philipp Michel Reichold (talk) 00:19, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- I just moved the category into alphabetical order. ----DanTD (talk) 14:43, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
sign categorization pattern?
[edit]Hi there,
I'm just curious. I've seen you go through pictures I've taken and re-categorize them over time, with I believe the stated goal being to clear out the main "Road signs in (state)" category. However, your pattern in that seems quite... well, random. Is there a pattern or method to your madness, or is it indeed... random? No offense intended, as said... just curious. Famartin (talk) 22:25, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
- I try to go with whatever category has the most of one type and split them out. My most recent choices with county-specific categories are a little more random, in the sense that my choices aren't necessarily in alphabetical order. --DanTD (talk) 22:53, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
What category?
[edit]These walls along the Interstate here are, I believe, sound-proofing walls (for the adjacent residential areas). Is there a category for these?
--Mjrmtg (talk) 02:15, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- If there is, I know nothing about it. ----DanTD (talk) 04:59, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Sound-proofing is the wrong term, noise-reduction would be better. I just found "Road noise barriers in the United States" - Thanks :) --Mjrmtg (talk) 11:14, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
