[edit]Question about
It is:
Fair use for The Daily Collegian
[edit]Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, because:
- It is of much lower resolution than the original.
- The photo is only being used for informational purposes.
- Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because the photo and its historical significance are the object of discussion in the article.
Let me know if that isn't allowed. I work on the paper and can get them to release the rights if needed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoahRiffe (talk • contribs) 00:28, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @NoahRiffe: Wikimedia Commons doesn't allow fair use images. See Commons:Fair use. You might be able to upload it on a local wiki depending on the circumstances. If you want to upload it under a free license that would be exceedingly difficult, you would need to clear the both of the images in the screenshot as well as the text. - @DalefromCleveland: Sounds good, I can just easily pick another front and get it signed off on. My apologies for not understanding that Wikimedia Commons doesn't allow fair use images. I can just delete it if thats possible? — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoahRiffe (talk • contribs) 00:39, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @NoahRiffe: Thanks for contributing and welcome. It's probably easiest to upload that same screengrab on the local Wiki (enWP I'm assuming) with the File Upload Wizard (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:File_Upload_Wizard) and tag it with a fair use rational. The wizard will walk you through what to do. You don't have to get permission then. DalefromCleveland (talk) 00:54, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @DalefromCleveland: Thank you so much! That is extremely helpful! — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoahRiffe (talk • contribs) 01:01, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
Hey!
[edit]Hi, the image you were talking about is not a screenstill but a photograph. The image may appear a low quality image but it had been captured by a 4k camera. Maybe your internet connection is not too good to load all of the image. Thanks Gamer10101 (talk) 04:42, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
