Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. Image uploads
[edit]Hello, your Image:Deepika in Saree.jpg doesn't really look as if you took it yourself. Can you clarify please? Note that "self-made" licensing may only be used for images that you created completely yourself (i.e. you are the photographer). --Chech Explorer 16:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Where did I state that I'm the author? --DStoykov 16:33, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Before uploading suspicious images to Commons, you should make sure that the images are original. You should have first question the author whether he/she is really the author of the photo. That can be proofed by submitting a larger version of the image. Please take measures! --Chech Explorer 17:31, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Doesn't look that suspicious to me. If you think it is - feel free to take the measures yourself. --DStoykov 17:45, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- In progress. Awaiting response from the original uploader. It seems that he/she does not answer such requests which means that soon the image will be deleted. Please be more cautious in the future. --Chech Explorer 18:15, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Images from mfa.bg
[edit]Please note, that the Creative Commons license on http://www.mfa.bg/ is NOT but cc-by-ND-2.5-bg. The ND means non-derivaitve, means: It is not allowed to modify the image in any way. This in not conform with Commons:Licensing, Commons accept only images that are free for every purpose including the creation of derivative works. The images will get deleted therefore. --Martin H. (talk) 03:06, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Im very sorry, i saw your webarchive on one of your images. Images uploaded to Commons prior December 15 2007 are indeed cc-by-2.5-bg. I will give the other images a permission information to prevent missunderstanding in future. Thanks and sorry again, --Martin H. (talk) 03:17, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:40, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
