Chris, I may have been the first foreigner to stay at that Capsule Inn in Osaka. I stayed there early in '79 and the owner welcomed me personally and said that I was the first ever foreigner to stay there. He thanked me also at the end of my stay. They were most courteous and I have just seen that it was the first capsule hotel in Japan. May I use your picture in a book that I am planning? Thank you, Robert, Sydney

No problem. All pics of mine are licensed under two licenses, the creative commons share alike attribution, and the GNU Free Documentation license. Both allow free commercial use. For your purpose, I think the CC license is better. Simply state in the image title or reference that the image is from Wikipedia and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 2.5 License. This means of course that others can copy the image from your book and continue to use it under the CC-By-Sa license. Let me know the titel of the book when it comes out. Sea of Japan

[edit]

Dear Chris,
I am very very impressed with your map collection, especially this one. Currently I contribute to Thai & Chinese Wiki for maps of Thailand & Australia. Can you please give me a bit more info about how you made that map ??

Is your main graphic editor "OpenOffice.Org" ? I am only a beginner who knows PaintBrush & Windows Picture Viewer the best :-((( so can not do complicated tasks like smudging etc. etc.

I only got 1 pix uploaded so far & definitely I want to learn more.

Thanks a lot !! Mori Riyo Pix 07:51, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. 如果您懂看繁體中文,請問那張圖中"日本海"三字的字體為何種?

No problem. As on the picture, i used [http://www.demis.nl/home/pages/wms/demiswms.htm DEMIS Mapserver), but you can also use [http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/ Nasa World Wind). Do not use Google Earth, as these images are copyrighted! Make the map look in the viewer just like you want it, fiddle around with the additional info (Boundaries, cities, sights, roads, etc...), and either save as image or make a screenshot. Often i save two images, one with and one without cities, so i know where exactly i should place the selected cities i want to see. Then i cut the edges of the image as needed with irfan view, and do create additional text/graphic using OpenOffice.org draw. All software used is available for free, (Irfan view: Private users only). Have fun. -- Chris 73 03:01, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
