File:JinKari.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Copyright status: File:Confuciansm Symbol.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Confuciansm Symbol.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:41, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Copyright violations
[edit]
Hello CherryGirl22.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

- Hello Mr LX,
- I am rather curious regarding your actions in uploading my pictures under the 'bogus license' sector, and about the necessity of the changes you made. Due, to personal reasons, I had been unable to attend the debate concerning this deletion either. Thus, would you please enlighten me regarding these deletions? CherryGirl22| 12:47, 5 October 2011 (GMT)
- Please respect my request to keep discussions where they started, as this makes conversations easier to follow. I am watching this page, so I will see responses made here.
- I don't remember exactly what the file description for this file looked like, but you can find the reason for deletion in the deletion log for the file. Based on that, and based on what I can see in your upload log and the deletion logs of files like Pandoraand her Box.jpg, it looks like you have been uploading non-free, copyrighted files that you found on the Internet. When you uploaded these files, you apparently claimed that their creators had agreed to publish them under the specific terms of free licenses, including the terms and conditions of the Free Art License. Those claims of yours seem to have been completely untrue. Uploading non-free files to Commons is not allowed. Uploading non-free files to Commons with made-up claims about their copyright and licensing status is definitely not allowed. In fact, making fraudulent claims about the licensing of copyrighted files is a criminal offense. Deleting copyright violations is absolutely necessary, both to protect the integrity of Commons as a repository of free content and to protect you from the potential legal consequences of your actions. Please read Commons:First steps again. It contains important information about what Commons is and what you can and can not upload here. —LX (talk, contribs) 16:46, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
I beg to remind you, regarding you about the Copyrights, that I DO have permission.I CHECK before I actually publish it, you see. CherryGirl22| 01:30, 9 October 2011 (GMT)
- You have permission from whom and for what? Only the legitimate copyright holder can issue a valid copyright license. Since you retrieved the files you uploaded from Google, it's pretty clear that you were not in contact with the copyright holders. —LX (talk, contribs) 08:38, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
