File:Van Soest, Attack on the Medway.jpg
[edit]I think you wrong, Chartrek. The painting at Royal Museums Greenwich of Pieter Cornelisz van Soest is the one we are talking about. The BBC-painting you uploaded is one of the painter Peter van den Velde and is quite different. Jan Arkesteijn (talk) 17:34, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
Your uploads
[edit]Hi Chartrek, if you have a different file you have to upload as a different file, don't upload it as a new version of an existing file. I am not talking about File:Van Soest, Attack on the Medway.jpg where you thought it was the same painter, or File:Samuel Pepys.jpg where you thought for some reason that your version was better than the already uploaded image, but I am talking about File:Nlc phaseii southeast 001c.jpg. The images you uploaded are smaller and entirely different than the original. Use the function Upload file in the left column under Participate, instead. Thank you, Jan Arkesteijn (talk) 08:55, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
File:Michael Schumacher Benetton1.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please stop reverting the file because the one you continue to revert to has a watermark on it which is plainly visible. We hope (talk) 18:07, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- If watermarking is strictly forbidden, that picture is eligible for speedy deletion. --- Chartrek (talk) 18:40, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- The watermarked photo was used to verify the photo's PD-pre-1978 status. The photo is in the public domain in the US. We hope (talk) 18:44, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- Since the original upload is watermarked, I maintain that the picture is eligible for speedy deletion. --- Chartrek (talk) 18:48, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- The image is not a copyright violation, and is not elligible for speedy deletion. In future, please don't edit-war even if you think you're right. INeverCry 19:08, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
