-- 3247 16:31, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

Bundesstraße Images

If you operate bot please add redundant messages in PNG images when they have SVG counterparts. For example in Image:Bundesstraße 289n number.png {{redundant|[[:Image:Bundesstraße 289n number.svg]]}}. --EugeneZelenko 04:14, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

By the way, because of bugs in MediaWiki, it's important for SVGs to have a "natural size" of at least 300px, and preferably at least 1500px, because MediaWiki refuses to "scale up" these images in most circumstances. I've failed to convince anyone this is actually a bug. If you agree with me, please comment at bugzilla:3499! Thanks, dbenbenn | talk 02:05, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Kannst du bitte noch Image:Bundesstraße 31a number.svg erstellen? Danke, MarianSigler {bla} 11:02, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing up Image:Commons-logo.svg. I'm trying to learn about SVG, and I'm curious: what program did you use? Thanks, dbenbenn | talk 01:49, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. The errors have been fixed, too. -- 3247 22:26, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

Could you upload another set of a 6 dot brille letters? It could be helpful for non-latin based brille letters, eg., en:Korean Braille and en:Japanese Braille. Although I can use Image:Braille C3.svg for final "ㅂ"(b) in korean or "い"(i) in japanese, it is not convenient. It coule be easier if "Image:Braille6 Dots-14.svg" is avalable. The 8-dot version(Image:Braille8 Dots-14.svg) could be another option. But it could mislead that these braille are defined in the 8-dot system. Also, you could upload a SVG version of en:Image:Brajlo.gif. -- ChongDae 07:18, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Yo, man, I just wanted to give you a shout + gratitude for creating this script. Even though I ended up not needing to modify + use it like I thought (the dot configurations was already there representing different letters), it was fuckin’ great having the script available, as well as the resulting SVGs uploaded. Much thanks again. —Wiki Wikardo 20:34, Fourth of July 2006 (UTC)

The rights of governments to declare their works PD

  • I believe you are correct. Some folks read the EU harmonization directive claiming otherwise, but to believe them, I would have to believe their assertion that the legislators of the Italy did not understand the directive, and by extension that Parliament of the UK did not understand it either. It strains credulity.
  • The folks who claim the EU harmonization directive makes it illegal for governments to expire copyrights prior to 70 years pma have proposed that the PD-ItalyGov template be deleted.

93/98/EEC

You wrote: "93/98/EEC defines what a photographic work is, so the point where the line has to be drawn is now the same in all Member States." Sure? See User_talk:Lupo#User:Lupo.2FSimple_Photographs... if that can be firmly established, all the better, but so far I'm not convinced that "the line is the same in all Member States". But even if it isn't, we shouldn't use "simple photograph" tags. Lupo 11:00, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I'm sure. As it is defined in a directive, it's European law. So the European Court of Justice has the power to interpret the definition in a way that's binding for courts of all Member States. If the ECJ says that criterion X defines a photographic works, then criterion X has to be applied all over Europe.
Member States can not, as the Berne Convention allows (it does not mandate a full protection for photographic works), give less protection to photographies that have criterion X. Such laws or judgments would have to be set aside by the ECJ.
However, it's true that Member States might draw the line below the standard of the ECJ. In terms of Eurpopean law, they could protect some simple photographs differently from other simple photographs. It is unlikely that this will happen, though, as the Directive lowers the bar nearly to the lowest possible standard. --  (talk) 16:49, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
--h-stt !? 19:17, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Slovenian Highways

Is it possible for you to make 10 5 pictures of new slovenian highway numbers? I would like to use it on slovenian Wikipedia. Numbers have almost exactly the same shape as german Autobahn numbers (including with white frames), except they are green (Autobahn) and blue (Schnellstrasse) and have corresponding letter and number inside. Font is also more or less the same (at least for first 5 numbers). I need green version of A 1 through A 5 and blue version from H 1 to H 5. -- Keber1 19:20, 23 October 2006 (UTC) (corrected, I don't need blue numbers) -- Keber1 19:54, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Are they identical to the Greek motorwy numbers? --  (talk) 22:56, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Similar, but not identical. Frame is a little bit too "bold". Frame is correct, color too, but Slovenian motorway signs have space between A and number. Also letters and numbers are little more narrow. Means same font AND same frame as German autobahn numbers, but with one space between A and number. (Again corrected, there's no space between A and number, I'll try to post a photo, but it's difficult to get one, because those numbers are new and few, present currently only on some motorway signs. -- Keber1 20:19, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Blah, don't bother with it. I'll temporary use Greek numbers until I'll master Inkscape and get a good picture of one of Slovenian sign to make SVG with Inkscape. Thanks anyway. -- Keber1 20:33, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Image:ISO 639 Icon pt.svg

Hi,

I have some recent problems with an image your bot (3247's Image Wizard) has made in 2006. The image is this one : Using firefox 3.0.4 it seems that a thumbnail of the svg shifts the text to right. This does not happen with others pictures like the ones for «en» or «de». There is also wich has the same problem.

You can see here different sizes of the picture : (20px), (30px), (40px), (50px), (60px), (70px), (80px). Only 30px and 50px have problems.

But 30px is the commonly used size in the traduction project for each language on the fr wiki (see for example fr:Projet:Traduction/*/Demandes). Could it be possible to improve the picture so that no problem occurs ? Thanks for you attention, Fryderyk (d) 23:04, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

The same problem seems to occur on Opera 9.62.
If you can read french, here is a discussion. Fryderyk (d) 05:25, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Strange. The images are converted to PNG by MediaWiki, so it must be a bug in MediaWiki's SVG rendering engine. (And of course, it will occur with every browser.)
It seems that 30, 35, 45 and 50px are affected but that 29px/31px are ok: (20 px), (21 px), (22 px), (23 px), (24 px), (25 px), (26 px), (27 px), (28 px), (29 px), (30 px), (31 px), (32 px), (33 px), (34 px), (35 px), (36 px), (37 px), (38 px), (39 px), (40 px), (41 px), (42 px), (43 px), (44 px), (45 px), (46 px), (47 px), (48 px), (49 px), (50 px), (51 px), (52 px), (53 px), (54 px), (55 px), (56 px), (57 px), (58 px), (59 px), (60 px)
Maybe you could just use 29 or 31px as a workaround until the bug is fixed. 3247 (T) 19:46, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Turned out to be an old bug that has already been fixed long ago. However, the cache had to be purged. -- 3247 (T)

Thanks ! Now it's OK. Fryderyk (d) 06:29, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi ! It seems that the problem occurs again for some unknown reason. I tried to purge the cache but this time it did not solve anything. Fryderyk (d) 13:51, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

It was reported on several occasions that there is something fishy going on with font replacements in the last few weeks. It seems that scaling can produce unexpected results when the image servers running the PNG conversion do not have the given font family. In addition, I am not at all sure librsvg can really handle multiple entries for fonts. So, you might consider replacing "Helvetica" as the first font with "Nimbus Sans L", which is installed here. At least for File:ISO 639 Icon pl.svg it seems to help. User:Sémhur suggests "DejaVu Sans Condensed", which from a technical standpoint makes no difference, it's also installed. I see it solely as a design issue. Nimbus is a Helvetica clone, so the difference to what was seen before is minimized. --Hk kng (talk) 22:20, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Hello, I've uploaded it with Nimbus Sans L like Hk kng says. It works fine. This font is a good alternative to replace Helvetica. Sémhur (talk) 10:16, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated license

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

Schuhgrößen

Hallo,

--UMyd (talk) 12:50, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
