Please immediately stop your edit-war on the 1970/1980's compilation images. Don't take over your personal fight from en wiki to Commons. If you want/need a modified image based on the original compilations then upload it under a different name. If you don't stop this behaviour will be reported for Admin review. --Denniss (talk) 07:58, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Some of your decade montages contain images that are not freely licenced by Commons rules. For example, File:Hitlermusso2_edit.jpg is acceptable on the English Wikipedia, but not at Commons due to a quirk in Italian copyright law, which is clearly noted on the image page at Wikipedia. If you upload un-free images, they will be deleted or reverted, and if you continue edit warring over them, you may face a block. As Denniss said, Commons is not place to continue an edit war (nowhere is for that matter, it's childish and a waste of everyone's time). If you want to upload a different (free) montage, you can certainly do that by uploading under a different filename. You can even make a whole category full of montages, as long as every image is freely licensed. Please contribute constructively, we are all trying to work together! I'm curious why the proclomation of the People's Republic of China in 1949 was scrubbed. That was definately one of the most impotant events of that decade. Just my two cents. --156.34.94.14004:33, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that you uploaded a file using the name File:1980s decade montage.png. A file by this name already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. If the file that you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you.
For more information, please see Commons:Overwriting files.
Please do not revert war over these images: Instead, upload variants under a second file name. Commons is meant to be used by many language's Wikipedias, so edit warring here could ruin the captions in a lot of places if these start to get used. I am going to go through and restore everything to the original images uploaded, you are of course welcome to upload a variant under a new filename, and use that instead. Note this is not meant to state a preference for one of the images, simply to insist that both options should be uploaded separately. Adam Cuerden (talk) 15:12, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You were warned to stop editwarring, and to upload new edits under their own name. You have continued this behaviour. As such, you have been blocked for two weeks.
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

First, excuse me for the mistakes in the writting, but i'm not english native. Now, i wanna thank you for the collages or montages by decade, but maybe they are... 'US-centrist' (for put some term). If you see, the most of the images are related to the USA. The importance of this country in the last century could be the main reason, but (today) there is almost 6.8 billion of people living in the rest of the world. You can count with your hand the images related with China and India (the 2 most populate countries) in all the montages. Also, Africa, Latin America and Oceania aren't represented in the montages. You could take some political facts, cultural movements, sports, scientific discoveries or people from this places (for example, Apartheid, Colonisation and Independence in Africa , Operation Condor, Cuban revolution, Latin American literary Boom, teams and players of soccer, rugby and cricket, Lucy the australopithecus, Macchu Pichu, the Sydney Opera...)
Maybe we could 'globalize' the montages and create one for the 1950's.
Hi CatJar, I like the decade montages that you have created. They certainly add value to the relevant articles. One suggestion from me: For the 2000s montage consider replacing the 2008 Summer Olympics image with an image of NASA's Mars Exploration Rover (MER). Olympic being a regular event should not be considered as a highlight for a decade. But successful exploration of Mars is a significant achievement of humanity in this decade. Hi there!
Just thought I'd give you a few tips of advice for your upcoming 2010s montage.
I feel that the DPRK-US summit is one of the most important events of the decade because of the circumstances into which the summit came to being. Please do consider adding this photo to the collage.
File:Burj Khalifa at night.jpg
As most of us already know, the Burj Khalifa opened as the tallest building in the world in 2010. I think that this photo will best represent the building in the collage.
Brexit is also one of the more notable events of the decade. This photo shows campaigners voting for the referendum.
