Hi, Carmel830. It looks like you accidentally uploaded the gnuplot source as File:Hardhead catfish graph.jpeg instead of the finished graph. Could you please reupload it?
(Also, graphs like that are generally best uploaded in SVG format. Gnuplot can produce SVG, so that shouldn't be a problem. If you'd also like to include the gnuplot source, you can paste it to the image description page wrapped in
tags.) —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 09:32, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- It looks like you uploaded (almost) the same gnuplot source as File:Hardhead catfish graph.svg. I tried rendering it in my own copy of gnuplot (which is slightly older than yours) and it seems to have turned out fine. I did notice that you also managed to finally upload a PNG version as File:Hardhead.png. I can delete the other, broken versions that you'd uploaded before; is that OK with you? —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 13:48, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes, you can delete the other versions than the PNG.
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:42, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
