Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

File tagging File:Chandra P.JPG
[edit]File:Chandra P.JPG which you uploaded has been tagged with {{OTRS pending}} for more than 30 days. This tag indicates that an email setting out permission to use the file was sent to the Volunteer Response Team. Unfortunately, we cannot find any record that such an email has been received, and accordingly the file remains without permission. Unless the Volunteer Response Team receives evidence that permission has been granted within 15 days of today's date, the file will be deleted. If you have already sent the permission, please re-send it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org now. Please quote the file name ("File:Chandra P.JPG") in your email. At the same time, please leave a message at the VRT noticeboard so that a volunteer can follow this up or contact a VRT member directly.

File:Love Lies Seeta.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

File tagging File:Midnight Delight Movie Poster.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Midnight Delight Movie Poster.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Midnight Delight Movie Poster.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

I was informed by wikimedia commons earlier that there is no need to send an email for permission. Just need to insert the license to upload images. Licence has been listed and I will add the source shortlyCarflo213 (talk) 21:35, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

File:Love Lies Seeta.jpg is free content and abides to the Wikimedia Commons Licensing. It is explicitly freely licensed in the public domain in the United States and does violate any copyright. So this objection has no basis. Carflo213 (talk) 18:22, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

- use in any work, regardless of content
- creation of derivative works
- commercial use
- free distribution
See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions. And also:
If you do not agree with the deletion, argue in COM:UDEL why should be restored. Yours sincerely, Alan (talk) 19:38, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
Hello Alan, Thanks for keeping a check to maintain Wiki's notability and credibility. It's inspiring and much appreciated. In regards to the files

- File:Midnight Delight Official Movie Poster.jpg
- File:Love Lies Seeta.jpg

All the above are free to use and apply to it's respective pages. I would therefore seek your advice in how to undelete them. I didn't feel necessary to reach out to the general forum for discussion for a topic of this volume. I hope you understand. Please advise next steps. Thank you again. Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Copyright violations
[edit]
Hello Carflo213.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

@Elcobbola: Thanks for highlighting the issues. I now well understand how I did not understand the guidelines about what is considered free to use vs fair use hence will ensure to be wary of these if I edit any articles in future. In reference to deliberate attempt: I have been on wiki for a long time and well understand and respect its guidelines. Any incorrect steps would be deleted is the first thing we all know so why would anyone make a deliberate attempt to go through all this? As I have mentioned earlier if there is a mistake done, we all need to respect Wikipedia as an open source and help each other to fix problems not attack. If you found an issue, you could either fix or assist to make us better wikipedians. Ergo, at this level I request you to assist me to be a better wikipidean.
