Notice of namespace-rename "Image" -> "File"

[edit]

Dear user, the MediaWiki developers recently announced that the "Image:" namespace is going to be renamed to "File:". "Image:" will remain an alias. The canonical namespace name wgCanonicalNamespace will change from "Image" to "File".

I noticed that you use wgCanonicalNamespace in either your monobook.js page or a JavaScript file in your userspace (check this list).

Please check and replace all occurrences of

wgCanonicalNamespace == "Image"

with

wgNamespaceNumber == 6

to ensure that your scripts keep working. Thanks! --Dschwen (talk) 18:41, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bryan 's Flickr upload bot == crack cocaine

[edit]

Jeetje, ik ben echt verslaafd aan jou flickr upload bot. Ik heb echt ontwenningsverschijnselen:

  1. copy/paste autheur;
  2. copy/paste URL;
  3. copy/paste datum;
  4. licentie handmatig aangeven;
  5. dan moet iemand anders de licentie nog verifiëren.

Wat een gedoe! Dan maar geen fotos uploaden van flickr! Red je ons snel? :P Jacoplane (talk) 03:39, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redundant DRBot messages

[edit]

Hi Bryan, please take a look at this case where DRBot posted a notification about a DR immediately behind an already existing notification. --AFBorchert (talk) 11:30, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FlickreviewR

[edit]

It looks like your bot is doing some redundant uploading. The talkpage has some examples. J.smith (talk) 18:02, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On a side note - I love the idea of this bot uploading the better resolution images. :) It's a very useful idea. J.smith (talk) 18:04, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, it finally uploaded. Took about an hour and a half though. Kaldari (talk) 22:14, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Haha

[edit]

Ik vermoed dat CD om deze reden geblokkeerd is op en.wp. Wat een drama maken die lui, zeg. Ik vind dit een WONTFIX. Siebrand 09:28, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Messy Flickr upload bot

[edit]
File:FlickrUploadBot - messy screenshot.png
uhm …

Hi Bryan,

could you have a look at the adjoining image please? (more info on its description page)

Twice or even more redundant uploads by Flickr upload bot occurred a lot recently (especially in early September). This is not a new issue obviously – it happened now and then, at least since autumn 2007 (I browsed all 2008 and late 2007 "new version uploads" of the bot, and deleted about 500 redundant versions earlier today).

Well, I'm not sure why this happens. Perhaps you can check some logs and see if it's a user-side mistake or a bug technical issue ;-)

Note: In a few cases (<5% of the files I've checked) one of the former uploads was broken (incomplete) and the file was reuploaded, which is good, of course, but I don't know if that is intentional or just a side effect. Anyway, ~95% of the "new version uploads" by the bot are superfluous/redundant afaics.

Offhand I guess these uploads regularly happen if a user cluelessly clicks a specific button several times or so … hmm, I noted "Warning when an image is being uploaded that already has been uploaded to Commons" on the bot's user page – isn't this warning bold, red and blinking? ;-)

Anyway, can you think of (or work on) a solution that disallows such redundant (even multiple) uploads if exactly the same file already exists as the current version?

Many thanks in advance! --:bdk: 20:34, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your bot does not like me ;)

[edit]

Hi there. I tried to upload several images from flickr, but the bot did not do its part.

Thanks, Renata3 (talk) 23:27, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

errors giving attribution?

[edit]

I love this bot, thanks for the effort... but... tonight it seems to be uploading my images but not tagging them with the correct attribution. Other times it simply doesn't even bother to upload the image. Hmmm? (Just as an example... page but not uploaded image as of now: File:ASSAM LANDSCAPE-teaworkerredshirt.jpg and a few examples of missing attribution: ) The missing attribution seems to be more dangerous than your bot watching TV and forgetting to upload the image. Tell bot to tag images with correct attrib! Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 13:49, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr upload bot not uploading

[edit]

Hello Bryan,

I thank you very much again for you amazing and really useful tool Flickr upload bot.

However today I experienced some troubles using it in order to upload the following images:

Yours faithfully, --Grifomaniacs (talk) 16:21, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grifomaniacs, the bot is blocked. Multichill (talk) 18:03, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bot won't upload

[edit]

Hi Bryan,

The bot won't upload the following images:

What should I do? Upload it again without the bot? But if I do, how can I remove the uploaded 'non-files'?

Tasja (talk) 10:02, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the bot has problems and has been stopt. Maybe that it works monday again. Cheers, Sterkebaktalk 10:08, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:JustinHallSelfTreo.jpg reuploaded by the Flickr review bot

Hello Bryan

I do not see the point in tilting the picture down again, by reuploading it from Flickr. Teofilo (talk) 14:18, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hoi Bryan, ik zag dat je bot w:nl:Sjabloon:Toolserver heeft bijgewerkt. Voel je vrij om je bot dat standaard te laten doen. In dat geval stop ik mijn bot. Groet, Erwin(85) 19:41, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
