Exception request for Flickr Upload Bot

Hi, Bryan - I'm in the process of relocating Flickr-sourced images on en Wikipedia to the Commons - I normally do this by using your bot to upload a new copy of the image directly from Flickr, as opposed from moving over the en version. I also upload many other images from Flickr here. Do you think I could have an exception to the upload limit? To my knowledge I've never screwed up a copyright issue. Thanks! Username for Flickr Upload Bot

Am a bit confused. When I try to get the bot to upload a file for which there is a CC-attribute licence (Image:Kereru-Kapiti.jpg), the bot says something like 'The image page on Commons was never editted by the user who issued the upload.' When the bot asks for a username, does it want the flickr username of person who the file belongs to? Or what? Kahuroa 05:40, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks - sorry for the trouble. Thanks for sorting out the image too. Kahuroa 04:30, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

SUL

I have registered user in this wiki but, I changed my name in my main wiki to beeyan, so please change my name in this wiki, but i see this user talk's page that this account has blocked--beeYan 02:53, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

OldUploadForm gadget

Hey Bryan, the task your OldUploadForm gadget performs (setting one single variable) seems to be more suited for the JSConfig framework in Common.js. I took the liberty of adding two configuration keys for the UploadForm stuff. Check it out on your my preferences page on the Files tab. --Dschwen 22:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

(Remember to force a reload if you don't see anything concerning the upload form. I didn't, at first.) I'd still keep the gadget, too. I fear it'd be rather confusing for users if we removed it now. Lupo 07:08, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Help to setup category watch

Could you please help me to setup User:EugeneZelenko/CategoryWatch? I did it sometimes ago, but page was never updated. Also I want to monitor all subcategories of Category:Belarus. Is it possible to setup recursively? --EugeneZelenko 16:27, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for help! --EugeneZelenko 15:13, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

CD

Hello. I don't know if this was reported, so I leave meassage here:

  • Someone noticed that delinker doesn't remove all links to image (diff - direct link removed, but field in the infobox was left intact).
  • Another user pointed that <gallery> tag should be removed (diff).

Oh, and did you have some free time to check replacer? :) (bot has already archived this thread). Beau (talk) 21:23, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your help! If you say that using force_complex may cause problems maybe I should not use it, but make a new daily cron job - second run of delinker with specified -since and -stop (if there is no such parameter, I'll try to make one:) - so complex removal of image links is used only when necessary. OTRS

From: "Mail Delivery System" <MAILER-DAEMON@secure-mail.be> To: <hubert@minnebo.be> Sent: Tuesday, June 03, 2008 5:19 PM Subject: Delivery Status Notification (Failure)

The following message to <permissions-commonswikimedia.org> was undeliverable. The reason for the problem: 5.1.2 - Bad destination host 'DNS Hard Error looking up }}wikimedia.org (MX): NXDomain'

Incomplete upload

Bryan, I am confused by the history of this file with regards to FlickreviewR. It passed the image, then failed it later. Is the point not to pass an image and leave it as passed so we know it was valid at one point in time? --ShakataGaNai Talk 20:14, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Nederlands geld?

Hey Bryan,

Bot CommonsDelinker

From Siebrands discussion page:

For some time I find this problem: the bot does remove and replace picture in articles, so far so fine, but skips pictures which are in galleries. This one for example I always have to do by hand myself.
Can the bot be updated in that respect? Tauʻolunga (talk) 05:54, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Only if someone make a regular expression that makes that work well... Please discuss this with User:Bryan. Cheers! Siebrand 08:40, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

DRBot "Closing" closed DR's that were archived

If that doesn't make sense, a quick explanation: DR's are being closed and eventually archived (subst'ing of the templates). Later DR bot is coming by and "closing" the DR's again. It seems that once the {{Delh}} is gone, it doesn't realize it was closed. I have several examples for you (all basically the same thing): 1, 2 and 3. Since Rocket and I were running archives last night - I wouldn't be supprised if DRbot just "closed" hundreds if not thousands of DR's again. --ShakataGaNai Talk 22:58, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Checked the contribs (duh) seems it only hit about dozen or so DR's. Is it possible for us to add something to {{Delh}} that once Subst will still "read" for the Bot? --ShakataGaNai Talk 23:05, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
I watched it run around again. It probably has gotten to the range of at least hundreds (if not more) "duplicate closed" DR's that were archived. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 01:04, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Here is a suggestion. Create a trigger that is small and simple that will prevent DRbot from "working" on a specific page (I suppose we could use {{Nobot}} but that is over the top). We'll put what ever that trigger is into {{Delh}} or {{Delf}} so that once subst'ing - DRbot will see the 'trigger' and not bother with the page. That way we can make sure all archive pages get subst'ing and no "re-closed" like is happening right now. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 01:16, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Uh-oh. I'm thinking this is completely my fault... as an attempt to reduce loading time I moved the CSS to MediaWiki:Common.js. I hope that wasn't what DRBot looked for. Rocket000 (talk) 18:52, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Need advices

Hi, I have uploaded a image that is about Japanese imperial military from a cutting frame of some historic videos. There is a request for its cleaning up, wonder you can give me the advices. Thank you.Tojo'Kami (talk) 09:03, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello Bryan. This image was never uploaded by the bot. Token# 16138. I was just wondering why it happened. Thanks --Kimse (talk) 04:24, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

substitueren

Hoi Bryan, ik weet niet wat de lol is van het substitueren, maar je bot is in ieder geval van slag. Multichill (talk) 23:39, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Flickrreviewer

Hi Bryan. I've noticed that flickrreviewer is having some negative effects at commons. For example, the automatic review is causing us to accept copyvio images which are obviously copyvio to any human who bothers to look at the Flickr user's photostream. The bot is also positively reviewing images which have come from the list of authors at Commons:Questionable Flickr images‎. What is your level of interest in updating the bot at this time? At a minimum I think the bot should be leaving the flickr images in a category for human review, and it should be testing for our known-bad list. If you're not interested in making these changes I'd possibly be willing to take over the task. Thanks for your time. --Gmaxwell (talk) 00:22, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

See also Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard#Images_from_bad_flickr_users. :) giggy (:O) 09:26, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

The problem with relying on human review only is that there are far too many for any group of humans to review: the bot has currently reviewed 70,000 images, whereas humans have reviewed 20,000 images and additionally 25,000 images have been uploaded by Flickr upload bot (talk · contribs) and File Upload Bot (Magnus Manske) (talk · contribs).

That said I will probably do implement our bad list; just haven't gotten around it. I'm planning to make a lot of improvements on the bot this summer when I have time (after the first week of July), but I could certainly use help. I'll catch you on IRC later. -- Bryan (talk to me) 10:54, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

General DRBot announcement

DRBot is having problems lately. If it starts doing really weird stuff, block it and disable autoblock. Also send me a mail because I don't have time to check this talk page regularly until the first week of July! -- Bryan (talk to me) 11:01, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

For some reason following the "click the link" link on Image:Blue October at Lollapalooza 2007-08-07.jpg doesn't complete the upload. Please let me know what I can do to finish the process. jareha (comments) 18:26, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi Bryan,

I was looking at the picture of the day for today and noticed that you mentioned here that permission for its use would be forwarded to OTRS. However, since no ticket number was listed on the description page, I looked for the ticket in the OTRS system and found that there was no specific permission statement archived--the last communication on the item was a request returned to you asking for a clearer statement.

I know this is almost a year old by now, but I was wondering if you had managed to obtain a clear statement of permission that you could pass on? If it helps in searching through your mail, the initial mail was dated July 12, 2007, and the ticket number in the agent response on August 8 is 2007071210015454. I'm also going to start a quick thread at Commons talk:Picture of the day asking whether we should maybe substitute another image until the question of permissions for this one is settled.

Sorry for the hassle, but thanks for any help you can provide! --jonny-mt 04:04, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
