A doubt

[edit]

Dear Bryan, First of all thank you for illustrated explanation of diff method for voting. However I have doubt about efficacy of this method to stop anonymous user. For example an anonymous user can create diff link on any genuine Wiki user and can impersonate as that user. Pruthvi.Vallabh 22:27, 22 February 2007 (UTC) wikipedia:user:Pruthvi.vallabh[reply]

Sorry, I don't understand your concerns. If you create a account on Commons, and on your home wiki write I am xyz on Commons and add a diff, how could you be impersonated? -- Bryan (talk to me) 13:06, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Suppose I create an account on commons and write "I am xyz on commons" on somebody else's talk page and provide a diff link to that page for voting. How It can be known I have misused somebody's talk page to vote. Pruthvi.Vallabh 23:50, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is easy to check from the diff, that the account making the edit is the same as the account's talk page. pfctdayelise (说什么?) 02:25, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On talk page?

[edit]

Does my diff have to be on the talk page? I created this diff on my user page, and it affirms that I am the same user on Commons and English Wikipedia, but I'm afraid I may have to make a new diff just because this was done on my User page instead of my talk page. :: ZJH (T C E) 03:00, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IMO, that is fine. The important thing is that you are making the edit on your own user/talk page, and you put a clear link to your Commons account. pfctdayelise (说什么?) 03:03, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Diff making

[edit]

Thanks for your message on my account. I thought I had used a valid diff link - was my vote rejected because I hadn't linked my discussion talk page to my commons account? If so, having done that, can I un-strike my previous vote, or should I vote again? Thanks for your help 82.44.87.161 20:06, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
