File:Toyota_Matrix_Burst_Angel_itasha_front_1.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Dear BrokenSphere - I have used your picture of the replica stele of the Hammurabic code in an article in the Sydney Daily Telegraph for November 5. I have made sure that you have been given credit. Upload patrol

Hi BrokenSphere, As posted in the Village pump I've created a tool enabling us to mark uploads as patrolled systematically with ability to cut out timeframes with From: and Until: timestamps, and ability to Hide already patrolled uploads. I noticed you were previously active or interested in checking uploads and invite you to install the userscript and continue that way. See also COM:RUP. If not already request the patroller right and confirm your Wikimedia account with the Toolserver as this is required. By using the [mark as patrolled]-link it will save us from doing double work! Feel free to contact me with any questions or feedback on my talk page, in the Village pump post or report bugs on the Tools feedback pageKrinkletalk 16:49, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

book cover

Hi Broken Sphere. Thanks for your message. Anyway I took off the image last night. The problem may be that although I am author of the image the upload I made was the bookcover with my painting so maybe the book cover with the title printed is the copyright of the publisher. I dont like complications. I was trying to help Derry O'Sullivan whom I have known for many years to build a little more on his page. Also I tried to put my portrait of him which is on the page to a template which is on all wiki pages but have not managed to do that. Could you possibly help me there. Derry will be giving me little by little more bio and we hope later to have a decent page for him. Best to You.. Reginald.Reginald gray (talk) 16:51, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I've been trying to upload the logo of my university (Pontifical Catholic University of Peru) and a deletion log continues appearing. Obviously I am not the author of the logo but the university let us download it from their website and we only need permission to use it when it comes to certified documents, official procedures and that kind of thing. For things like internet or simply "showing it" there are no obstacles. I would like to know what is that I have to do to make it appear in our Wikipedia page. Zelda cosplayer

I've been asked to modify your picture deleting the background person. License allows me to do it, but the requester wants to rename the older with the new version, I mean, to upload a new version of your picture. I want to ask you if you approve that. These are the pictures:

--DPC (talk) 17:41, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

What I was asking is to overwrite the original with the second version without man, leaving just one picture. I didn't do it yet because I agree with you when you say "I think that the version cropping out the background person is a significant enough edit that it should exist as an alternate version on its own", but I was asked to do it. So, let both pictures. Thank you very much. --DPC (talk) 07:37, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Subcategories

Hi. Thanks for your work. I wish to suggest that when you create geographic subcategories like Category:Ambulances in Louisiana, you be aware that they represent the intersection of more than one category -- in this case, not only is it related to ambulances, it is also related to Louisiana. I've added Category:Transport in Louisiana, which seemed appropriate. (If you don't know of any more specific category, just the state category would have been more helpful than nothing; someone else can tweak it more precisely if needed.) Thanks for your attention. Photographs of xxx

Hi, the whole notion of categorizing things in categotries named "Photographs of xxx" is totally redundant. For example, if you look at the category Category:Children you will see many, many subcategories, most of which contain mainly photographs. For the "Photographs of children" structure to make sense we would have to create a "Photographs of xyz" category for each subcategory of Category:Children. In other words the default is that a file here is a photograph, and we create specific categories for other types of medium (eg text, sound and video files). If you examine the other "Photographs of xxx" categories, you will find that they are either redirects to the same category (without "Photographs of"), eg Category:Photographs of dogs or are infact actually containers for "Photographs by type/style" subcategories eg Category:Black and white photographs of children. But I am happy to leave Category:Photographs of child laborers by Lewis Hine as a sub-cat of Category:Black and white photographs of children for the time being until the structure is sorted out. :-) --Tony Wills (talk) 02:59, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you!

Hummer or HMMWV?

I think you should pass your picture of the camo painted "hummer" to someone you trust for verification. It would be pretty weird to see a civilian hummer geared out completely in military issue body parts. I'm not sure CARC paint is even available on the open market. From first glance, and looking closely at the vehicle it looks like it's probably a national guard M998. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bc/Camo_Hummer_H1_front.JPG Sorry for being unsigned, I just don't do anything with wiki often enough — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.200.100.98 (talk • contribs) 08:09, October 9, 2011 (UTC)

Permission box

Hi. Can you tell me how to create a permission box like the one you have here? Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 23:37, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

I don't know how to. I tried, and replacing your username with mine doesn't work. Nightscream (talk) 15:13, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! By the way, what's the origin of your username? Is it a reference to the golden sphere that once stood in the World Trade Center plaza pre-9/11? Nightscream (talk) 10:18, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, again. I'm getting ready to upload all my pics from the New York Comic Con (over 400 of 'em!) , and I this'll be the first time I use that template you showed me. I have a question: You upload your files with the Sharealike license, but the permission box you've created says "If you would like special permission to use, license, or purchase the file, please contact me to negotiate licensing terms.". Doesn't the licensing that you've chosen make them free to use, as long as the user credits you? Given the license, why do users have to contact you for special negotiation? (Just wanna understand how this works.) Nightscream (talk) 08:48, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

So what you're saying is, you allow free use of your images in non-profit uses only, but require people using them in commercial ventures to negotiate with you do so? Nightscream (talk) 20:06, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
No, quite the opposite. Thanks for all the clarification! :-) Nightscream (talk) 20:40, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Tree of Life

Hey - would like to use your photo (Disney's Tree of Life) on our group travel website - huddletrip.com. It is just much better than the one supplied by Disney. Would you give us permission?

Use of Sproul Hall photo

As a reporter for the State Department, I'm doing a series of short articles with photos for our overseas audiences of historic spots across the United States. I'd like to include your photo here of Sproul Hall (taken during Cal Days, 2010) for its fame from the Free Speech Movement.
