Djvu files thousands hours of work and checking
Hi Bjweeks:
Can you help to solve this problem?. I don't speak English well, so I have asked Giggy for some help to explain. Regards, --Zephyrus 09:03, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Flickr reviewing
Good day! As a result of your request at Commons talk:Flickr images/reviewers/archive 4#User:Bjweeks, I have added you to the reviewers list. Please see the instructions at Commons:Flickr images/reviewers and add User trusted to your userpage. You can ask me if you need any help. Best regards, --Kanonkas(talk) 17:52, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Flickr review query
Hi - I deleted a batch of images that you tagged as having failed review ("Flickr review NOT passed: Author is using NC, ND, or all rights reserved"). However this image as an example takes you here where it states "No known copyright restrictions". Am I missing something (it is my fault definitely but it would be good to see where the misunderstanding is)? Cheers --Herby talk thyme 12:42, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- I denied those for two reasons. First, "No known copyright restrictions" is not the same as being public domain, so based just on that they would not be allowed on Commons. The other reasons was they were tagged with cc-by-2.0, and it was stated nowhere on the page that they are released under the CC. Most of the set I denied would be PD-US but there isn't a copyright expired tag for France that I could find. BJTalk 02:20, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, this seems to be a debatable topic, see Commons:Deletion requests/Template:Flickr-no known copyright restrictions. BJTalk 02:28, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting one & thanks. I'll make the uploader aware of the issue. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 07:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi Bjweeks,
I don't know why you tagged Image:Ronald Reagan with John McCain.jpg as copyvio/Flickr failed. At least now (july 10th) the image is tagged CC-BY-SA 2.0 by the Flickr user, who even says he believes it to be PD as coming from LOC. Therefore, I recommend you to withdraw the copyvio tag. --Túrelio (talk) 07:46, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Done already by Giggy. --Túrelio (talk) 12:06, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for taking part in my RFA. It passed 29-5-0, and I appreciate and will take to heart all of the feedback, and do my absolute best to better Commons with the trust placed in me by the community as a whole. rootology (T) 17:15, 31 July 2008 (UTC) | |
Image deletion warning | Image:PSV_Inside_en_PSV_Flits.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. |

"Pelolsi"
Why did you misspell Pelosi in about 15 uploaded files? They didn't have useful descriptions either... AnonMoos (talk) 14:49, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- You know, that was a typo originally made by the Obama-Biden Transition Project when they uploaded those pictures. It seems that this user is apparently uploading all of the photos the Transition has on Flickr? GPHemsley (talk) 18:46, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Rather a lot of pictures of Mr. Obama and his team...
I see you're uploading rather a lot of pictures of Mr. Obama and his team. Are you quite sure they serve a useful purpose? (I have asked basicallly the same question about all the pictures that have been uploaded of Mr. Putin and his team as well.) Regard, MartinD (talk) 15:00, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:41, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Please give images good descriptions
Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used. It also helps those that review and improve categories do a better job, which also ensures that images will get used in novel and interesting ways. Thanks, and happy editing!

Hi! You uploaded a lot of files from Flickr like this one File:20081126 Thanksgiving OTR-0790.jpg. Please remember to add description and author. Adding Flickrreview is also a good idea so that images will be reviewed in case license is ever changed or deleted on Flickr. --MGA73 (talk) 11:20, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- The images were bulk bot uploaded on request, I don't know each photographer. BJTalk 03:25, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Eur.comm.orig.100.gif
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Eur.comm.orig.100.gif. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
I removed the Money-EU license from this image as an invalid license. --Hammersoft (talk) 16:52, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
File:Eur.comm.orig.020.gif has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

ArchiveBot
Hi, I noticed you have set up User:MiszaBot to archive your talk page. Unfortunately, the bot has stopped working, and given how its operator is inactive, it is unclear when/if this will fixed. For the time being, I have volunteered to operate a MiszaBot clone (running the exact same code). With that said, your input would be appreciated at Commons:Bots/Requests/ArchiveBot 1. File tagging File:Mr. Splashy Pants.svg
This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Mr. Splashy Pants.svg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |
