Battle of Hasakah

[edit]

You can update map Battle of Hasakah! Here new source:here and village Al-Dhiyabah also under control by Syrian troops.here --Hanibal911 (talk) 17:07, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hanibal911 I don't think I can, I'm not familiar with .svg files (I normally do .png maps). I'd normally try to give it a go, but I don't have much time today to learn how to do this. Banak (talk) 18:02, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo, first of all I want thank you for your recent map update. But the Hasakah region was unfortunately not updated. ISIS is completely encircled there [1] according to many source. And the region south of Tel Brak is also YPG controlled, there was some confusion about that, but ISIS is not claiming to control this area and YPG is reporting to control it.

I have no idea how to edit this map, because of that I am contacting you. Thanks again! Best regards --103.56.218.198 17:38, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Regards. --Panam2014 (talk) 19:23, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Levant conflicts map

[edit]

I highly appreciate you bringing up the issue on the Syrian Civil War module's talk page on Wikipedia (most of what you said pretty much covers what I was concerned about, just better phrased). However, it appears that the new rules aren't changing in general, so I'm afraid that I will have to limit most of my changes to just the map image, since most of the updates do not come from well-known article sources (at least for non-notable regions and villages). However, I'll source the url in the revision log for any major changes in the map file that don't make it to the source modules. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 10:29, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

BlueHypercane761 I'd like to know what existing areas are deliberately different to the map at the very least. Banak (talk) 02:35, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Eastern Hasakah, the southern Tell Abyad countryside, parts of Ramadi & Fallujah, part of northern Aleppo, and possibly Idlib (I can't tell whether the latest change is accurate). All of the changes come from accurate sources that I have found, for some of them, there are conflicting reports, so I can't tell exactly whether or not something has changed there. Yemen civil war map

[edit]

Please update File:Yemen war detailed map.png. It hasn't been updated in a month. --174.118.78.26 03:03, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Banak (talk) 03:24, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Concerning AQAP-held territory; should we change the colour of the dots used to represent the cities back to black from the current gray? It doesn't stand out as well against the gray background as before, which makes the map a tad harder to read. Compare the current version with the previous one; the cities stood out more before. 206.223.166.51 15:21, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not entirely sure what to do, will think about it some more. Banak (talk) 15:22, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Banak, thanks for your contributions. I proposed to color as well the neighbouring countries depending on their support for either faction. See my own proposal (http://imgur.com/0cQmFwP) and share your thoughts, thank you. --Polmas (talk) 11:47, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My thoughts are that images showing the roles of other countries in the war should probably be separate from those of the war, like File:SyrianCivilWarMap.png. Banak (talk) 15:22, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Map changes

[edit]

Re Michael 2552's edits; I've been following this out of personal interest, and I also can't find the sources for any of your most recent changes. Part of the problem, of course, is that the talk pages are all scattered across multiple wikis and pages (I had no idea what a module even was until now), but at any rate it might be best if you post the reason and sources for updates directly onto the file talk pages (i.e. to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File_talk:Syrian,_Iraqi,_and_Lebanese_insurgencies.png for that particular map) to minimize confusion and prevent edit wars like this going forward.. 206.223.166.51 19:30, 2 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I finally found the sources for the edits in question, I think; I assume you meant this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Cities_and_towns_during_the_Syrian_Civil_War. I've posted it on Michael2552's wall; you two can sort it out. For the record, I resent the fact that you felt it necessary to check us for being sockpuppets instead of just posting a link to the source. Also, that stuff wasn't easy for me to find; for transparency's sake I still encourage you to comment on the file talk page when you make substantive edits in the future.
Thank you for your hard work on the map, misunderstanding aside. It's good to have a current diagram of the state of affairs in the region. 206.223.166.51 21:04, 2 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The investigation was not intended as a tactic to distract from the issue, nor to upset you in any way, I was under the impression that investigations, if rejected due to insufficient merit (as in your case) or considered to have sufficient evidence to be investigated found to be unlikely (as in Michael's case) do not inform you that they have happened.
this edit is a previous case of me giving the information you wanted, and that on my user page I ask if you wish to contact me you do so on English Wikipedia. I would also like to point out the version that had been reverted to had no stated source, and appears to have not been based off the module either, so the rationale for these edits was incredibly suspect from my point of view.
My comment that I wanted to talk on a talk page not via edit summary was because their were multiple "uploads" that weren't actually changing the image, and that I could not read all of the edit summary of as it ended in "..." I was not intending to talk immediately, but rather stop the (accidental) disruption. Banak (talk) 22:56, 2 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

COM:AN/B discussion

[edit]

Hi, I'm finding the use of "module" confusing. I had presumed you were referring to a template, but that seems wrong. Could you clarify in the AN discussion how you are using the word? Thanks -- (talk) 04:58, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info! I removed the protection of the map and reverted to your last update. Best, --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 06:14, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
