Pay attention to licensing
|
Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose.
File:Teaching kittens to look pleasant.pdf seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file. If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

Licenses
[edit]Please don't use cc-zero on images to which it doesn't apply. The images typically are public domain due to age, yes, but the creators never heard of the internet, let alone Creative Commons. DS (talk) 21:36, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- @DragonflySixtyseven: Creator is Belle Johnson (see quotation "1911 by BJ" under the main picture)=> well known on the Internet, her works is in public domain https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_Johnson
Please could you put the picture back with the cc-zero license or explain if it's different. Thanks. --Bakelith (talk) 16:56, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- Is her work public domain due to age, yes. Is her work CC-Zero, no. CC-Zero specifically states that the release was done by the creator. It was not, because Belle Johnson died decades before this was possible. To say that photographs by Belle Johnson are available under CC-Zero is false. It is factually wrong. Her work is available under "PD-old-auto|1945" (or, if for those items published before 1924, "PD-old-auto-expired|1945"). DS (talk) 18:23, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
File:Flush a biography - Virginia Woolf.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
