A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Tom McGrath, Producer.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Thank you for your advice. The original photo was taken by Angie daughter of Tom mcGrath (producer). Tom mcGrath was my first cousin and Angie made the photo available to me so that I could add it to the wikipedia site. Angie also set about completing the form to transfer ownership of the photo to wikipedia but my instructions were not clear enough and we did not succeed in the transfer. I am still working to sort this out and hope to do so shortly. Baile Atha Cliathach (talk) 21:43, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Who took the photo that was printed and framed under glass, and who used an iPhone 12 to take a photo of that?   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 22:01, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the following exchange of emails will clarify the position for you.Tom died just three years after Angie took the photo which would have been framed in his memory in her home. when I added the photo it was adjusted by a wikipedia helper. I could locate the helpers' comment if necessary. This is the exchange. My questions were prompted in order to satisfy Wiki requirements.

Hello Angie
I believe you can take the steps I suggested and go back as you want . It will familiarize you with it.
It may take me a while to work out the next step.
Do you remember for what event you took the photo?
Best

Ok, so who used an iPhone 12 to take a photo of that?   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 22:38, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I believe the following email will clarify the position for you. Angie is the youngest of three daughters of the late Tom mcGrath. I spoke on the phone to Linda who is the eldest. On 6th June I received the email from Linda:
"Hi Brendan
Nita and Angie and I are delighted with the entry and do not wish to change anything. Angie thought that this photo of dad which was taken at home by her would be nice to insert.
Thanks so much for all the trouble you have taken to compose entry.
Best wishes Linda

The photo was taken at 18:06 on Mon, 6 Jun 2022 by Angie who emailed it at 18:10 to Linda who re-forwarded it to me .
I believe I was successful in furnishing the photo to Wikipedia the following day.
I trust this clarifies the position for you.
Angie is happy to complete the necessary transfer to Wikpedia authorisation form but I have not yet been able to work out how this can be done. However I would hope to do so in the next few days.
87 next March I was extremely happy to be told that my original submission was ranked in the best 18 % received by Wikipeda. Baile Atha Cliathach (talk) 12:09, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again. Please have Angie send permission via VRT for both the original photo and her new photo of it, with a carbon copy to you. Also, please ping me when replying to me outside my user talk page.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 16:14, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I now am comfortable on how to send the permission.
How do I cite "original photo" and "new photo"
Would appreciate guidance. Baile Atha Cliathach (talk) 16:20, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"the photo that was printed and framed under glass" vs. "the photo of that with an iPhone 12". Of course, if she would go to the trouble of taking the original photo out of the glass and scanning it or having it scanned, or finding the original negative and having that scanned, either would make for a better photo (I can see an outline of her reflection in the glass). He might even have all his hair on the negative.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 16:23, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If I can manage to have the photo scanned: What then? Baile Atha Cliathach (talk) 16:27, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Overwrite one of the ones you uploaded here with that instead. Search the file description page for "Upload a new version of this file" without quotes.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 16:32, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
