[edit]I am wondering why this photo was tagged as not having the proper permissions. I am the person who took this photo. According to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:OTRS, I should not have to contact them to give permission since, "I created the file myself. it hasn't been previously published, and I am the sole owner of its copyright."
I have sent the persmission email to OTRS using the template. Let me know if there is something else I am supposed to do. This is the first attempt I have made at uploading a photo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Babaoreally (talk • contribs) 04:58, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- Really "Babaoreally"? I questioned the fact that new editor uploaded this picture which has unusual dimensions and no metadata to confirm it has been genuinely taken by a camera. Those kinds of things are very often sourced from the internet, scanned from a publication or perhaps a screen shot from TV. Secondarywaltz (talk) 06:31, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- Really. I took this photo from the stands. I chopped it down to what looked like a reasonable size to me. The editing program must have removed the metadata; I didn't realize it needed that. You can search for the internet for this photo, and the only place you will find it is here. I can try to crop a new version of it tonight and make sure it keeps the metadata from the camera if needed. Would that be enough to keep it from being flagged and deleted? As a new user, it is hard to figure out how all of this is supposed to work. I noticed that there was no picture on this page, looked through the photos I took at the event a couple of years ago and found a good one. I cropped out one of the other curlers in the photo, and in that process apparently removed the metadata. I signed up as an editor in order to add the photo. If I can figure out how to do this without getting flagged each time, I might be able to add a few photos for other curlers at the event if they do not have them on their wikis. Babaoreally
- I have removed the tag from your picture. That is not how I should welcome a new contributor. Unless somebody else objects, you are OK. Secondarywaltz (talk) 15:04, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
