Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Copyright status: File:Title page of Hans-Peter Schwarz's Book on the Refugee Crisis.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Title page of Hans-Peter Schwarz's Book on the Refugee Crisis.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File:Lester Brown Plan B 3.0.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Ilka Gedo image
[edit]I do not understand why you have nominated an Ilka Gedo image for deletion. Could you please specify the issue so that I can address the problem.

- Hi. A few comments: First of all it took me some time to find out who you are, as I had not left any DR message on your TP. I found the message on User talk:Hungarian David Biro. Therefore I guess the two user names belong to one person... You? It is not totally out of rules to use more than one user account but let me warn you friendly, you will confuse your deeds -like in this case- and suddenly find yourself involved in a problem. Therefore I recommend you to shut one of these accounts. When you decide which one to sacrifice, we can ask one of the mellow admins we've got in this place. (Reply me here please.) OTOH, as I have found you I recommend you to add cats to your files; I mean the files you upload or follow. This way they will be sort of more "protected" and will not be easy to find for uncategorized file patrollers. For this file in concrete, you could use Category:Drawings by Ilka Gedő in the Israel Museum. As regards the core issue, I DR'ed it because I did not see any permission. Never mind, the admins who close deletion requests (DRs) examine the cases with a lot of attention; they will not delete anything simply because I proposed it for deletion. BTW, you should participate in those DRs and defend the files you cherish. Cheers. --E4024 (talk) 08:22, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
Could you tell me where my other account is and how to delete it?
[edit]As regards the copyright issue, I inform you that I am the son of the artist. I am absoluteéy ready to sort out the copyright issue, but again, I regret to say, I do not know how to solve this problem. I myself donated the darwing in question to the Israel Museum.
Wishing you all the best,
David Bíró

- As I already told you above, User:Hungarian David Biro seemed like yourself to me. If not, sorry. For the question at the title, maybe the page OTRS can help you. Have a good week-end. --E4024 (talk) 16:14, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
thanks!
[edit]I can't explain why E4024 didn't give your request for help a more genuinely helpful reply.
We have a committee of trusted contributors here. They are entrusted with the responsibility to handle the project's confidential correspondence. When someone owns the intellectual property rights to an image that has been published elsewhere, and they want to establish that they have the authority to make it available for use here, they send an email to that committee (at permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). Someone on the committee asks them some questions, confidentially, to confirm their identity.
Once that is done they put a "ticket number" on the image, telling people that they have confirmed that the image is being used with permission, even though it has been published elsewhere.
The rules, are at Commons:OTRS.
Thanks very much for your generosity! Geo Swan (talk) 14:29, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
- I see a committee member added OTRS ticket 2017032310023609 to File:Ilka_Gedo_Israel_Museum_06.jpg in March 2017. I suspect that means you already went through the process of establishing you were authorized to upload images of your father's drawing.
- I think this means anytime you upload an image of one of your father's drawing, all you have to do to avoid challenges like E4024's is to add the OTRS ticket number.
- Thanks again for your generosity! Geo Swan (talk) 19:12, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
