User talk:Archtransit~commonswiki
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Welcome
[edit]Hi, and welcome. A few suggestions. First... You may want to consider actually doing a crosslink (where you post on en that you are this user here, and then here, post the diff of the post on en...) or a wiki matrix if you get enough accounts, instead of what you do now, just asserting it's you. Second, don't take it too hard if your RfA doesn't succeed. We Commoners like to see more involvement than you've so far shown. Just take the feedback on board, and then either put more time in here (it's a fun place, trust me) or, decide that it's not needed, and leave the DYK protecting to the other admins, or just upload and protect on en: which is what you have to do anyway. I recommend my shiny new essay: COM:MELLOW, as well as this excellent Guide to adminship Best wishes. ++Lar: t/c 02:47, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
If you ever need an admin, you can go on IRC (#wikimedia-commons) and ask a voiced user there. Or ask someone on Commons:List of administrators by adminship status in other Wikimedia projects (40 en admins there). Or ask me. Cheers, — Giggy 08:01, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that's the best idea - we don't want to preemptively protect images that might be on DYK (am I misreading what you wrote?)...and anyway, we want to make editing as accessible as possible. I think just bugging an admin (active admins: http://tools.wikimedia.de/~daniel/WikiSense/ActiveUsers.php?mode=commons) is the best way to do it. — Giggy 02:41, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Your request for adminship was not successful
[edit]Per your own statement of intent to withdraw if you did not get any support by noon UCT today, I've closed your RfA. Please do not be disheartened, if you truly wish to be an admin here, you have been given a lot of wise counsel about what you need to do. I hope you take it on board. We can definitely use your help if you're interested in helping out, but the community seems clear that a SPA adminship will not be well received. ++Lar: t/c 18:46, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Archtransit. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Archtransit~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
