Deleted contents
[edit]
Hello Ahmada2,
the following content you uploaded is not free and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:
The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files which can be used for any purpose, including:
- use in any work, regardless of content
- creation of derivative works
- commercial use
- free distribution
See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on the Wikimedia Commons. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on the Wikimedia Commons: "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload works you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial to understanding how the Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions. --Robek 15:48, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you. Siebrand 11:45, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

File:Heliopolis-Poster-WEB.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use content.
We do this because Commons is a shared media repository. Downstream wikis have different policies based on local laws. Uses that are acceptable under US law, for example, may not be acceptable in many other countries with more restrictive rules. In addition, fair use is not compatible with our aim as a collection of freely distributable media files. Therefore, Commons cannot legally rely on fair use provisions. Non-free content that may be used with reference to fair use may be uploaded locally if your project allows this.

File:Heliopolis-Poster-No1.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Copyright violations

Hello Ahmada2.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

- Copied from my talkpage: "I hold the copyrights of this file and the film. how to upload it? I tried to even publish it @ flickr under public domain. but still Commons refuses it, Help please"
- Follow the procedure Commons:OTRS. Kind regards, Jan Arkesteijn (talk) 08:34, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- You have to understand, that anyone can upload a picture here or at Flickr, and choose a name similar to the copyright owner, and release the picture under a free license, violating the rights of the copyright owner. So we have to be carefull. Just send an e-mail according to the Commons:OTRS procedure. Or an alternative: I noticed you have an official website for the movie http://www.heliopolisfilm.com/Welcome.html with the poster in the welcome page. Make a line at the bottom of that poster, stating that it is released under one of our free images, preferably Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0, and refer in the Original source line in the wikimedia image page to that page on your website. So everyone can check that it is a free image. Kind regards. Jan Arkesteijn (talk) 21:38, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
No fair-use
[edit]There is no fair-use on Commons. We only allow free-use images, Please see COM:L. Also there seems to be doubts that you own the image and well as the flickr uploader of File:Heliopolis-Poster-No1.jpg. Seems to me the owner of the copyright would be owned by Film House Egypt which is where we need the permission to come from, If you can get the permission needed please forward it to OTRS. Bidgee (talk) 08:04, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Fair-use images can be only uploaded on some Wikipedia's. Commons is a free-use repository and only Creative Commons Attribution, Creative Commons Share-Alike, Creative Commons Zero-Waver (All rights released [Similar as PD]), Public Domain and Free Arts licenses. If you're still wanting to keep your rights, then it would be best to upload on Wikipedia as fair-use however if you want to upload on Commons you will need to choose one of the free-use licenses but that would also mean you will lose some/all (Depending on the license you choose) of your rights on the image and you would still have to email OTRS. Thanks for uploading File:Heliopolis-Poster-WEB.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Heliopolis-Poster-WEB.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
