Categories
[edit]Hi Ahalenia: Perhaps it would be good for you to read up on the category method before making more changes to images like you did with the picture of the Bear River Casino, where you made a new category with this image as the only picture and gave it a name of a river (and/or possibly a group of Native Americans). The category "Indian Casinos in California" is where this image goes because it is not a river, nor a picture of a Native American of the Mattole group (Sinkyone). For reference see Category:Miwok or any of the other Category:Native American tribes in California pages. According to the Bear River Casino website: :"Bear River Tribe... Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria...The Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria is located on the reservation in Loleta, California, which consists of 525 enrolled tribal members governed by seven tribal council members....Rohnerville Rancheria is a federally recognized tribe. Bear River Rancheria owns and operates Bear River Casino Hotel, Pump & Play, Tish Non Housing and North & South Basayo Village (Fortuna, CA)... Bear River tribal members are mainly from the Mattole and Wiyot tribes. The Hoopa, Yurok and Tolowa are present as well by way of marriage or interrelations. Today, the Bear River Band encourages the belief that working together as one toward common good will bring prosperity to all." Despite members of the Rancheria maybe belonging to the Mattole cultural group, the image of the casino doesn't have anything to do with that cultural group other than that it may be partially owned by someone of that descent. By the logic of inclusion, the AT&T photographs would have to be categorized to about 150 nationalities for all their shareholders; and all the other tribes listed above should also have been categorized. As this building does not fit in the cultural categories of the various tribes and since it is listed in the California Casinos category, I have reverted your edit. There is a ton of constructive things you can do just starting out, but seriously I'd recommend not creating new categories until you search out and understand the ones that are already there.
