Thanks for uploading File:BTCC Welch Motorsport Proton Gen-2 (Daniel Welch), 31 March 2013.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Unless the Volunteer Response Team receives evidence that permission has been granted within 15 days of today's date, the file will be deleted. If you have already sent the permission, please re-send it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org now. Please quote the file name ("File:Proton Infotainment System.jpg") in your email. Hi Aero

I am sorry to write you only to moan (I rarely have a chance to get on anyone's talkpage for joyous things!) and I hope you don't take it badly: I agree that File:Honda City third gen.jpg could use some cropping, but I think that perhaps you went a little too far. Best not to make it look like the car is squished in there. Of course, this is a personal aesthetic opinion and you are welcome to ignore me entirely. In any old case, I hope to see your work in the future and will talk to you soon. Cheers, mr.choppers (talk)-en- 00:57, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi Mr Choppers, a pleasure to be of acquaintance ! Don't worry about it, I always appreciate and value some good 'ol constructive criticism and insightful opinions !
The Honda City photo, I believe it was some sort of cache error, I have fixed it somewhat. Thanks for pointing it out, I never thought it would look all squashed like that. xD haha I do apologize, I got wayyyy carried away the other day... I was basically cropping photos for 14 hours straight. I realized I made some other mistakes here and there, and I intend to correct them as soon as my free time permits.
I will most definitely look forward to our next conversation. :] Cheers - Aero777 (talk) 10:47, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Proton Saga

Hi, rather than resorting to strange work-around like Category:Proton (Saga) I think it is best to leave the image in the Proton Saga categories which is much neater. OSX (talkcontributions) 00:11, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi OSX, thanks for raising your concerns regarding the new Category:Proton (Saga). I too find it a bit unconventional and counter-productive, but it's the most factually accurate representation. I have put a lot of thought into it, and I think another less confusing way would be Category:Proton (1988–1993) or Category:Proton (Saga, 1988–1993). It's technically wrong to categorize the U.K.-registered Sagas under Category:Proton Saga (1985–1992) as there is no mention of the name 'Saga' anywhere in that market. The same is true for Category:Proton Mpi. Furthermore, the U.K.-bound models had their own unique interior and various other mechanical differences, making them very different cars despite sharing the same body. Using the market-specific names will also make searching much easier as they can be seen here in Category:Proton automobiles in the United Kingdom and also Category:Proton automobiles in Australia through Category:Proton automobiles by country. However, for models which use the same name in all markets, like Category:Proton Gen-2, no such separation is necessary as they can be clearly seen on the Category:Proton vehicles page, unlike Category:Proton Jumbuck or Category:Proton Mpi.
I assure you that I have no intentions of creating unnecessarily complicated separations. I only hope to use the most accurate representation possible. Each of the newly made categories were created only after much thought went into them. However, if you insist, I will revert to the original categories, at the cost of factual accuracy.
I'd also like to thank you very, very much for porting hundreds of new car photos from Flickr to the Commons ! Aero777 (talk) 01:26, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
I am not currently in a position to provide a good suggestion to this thorny question, but I feel that we could easily round up a few interested editors and get some great suggestions for how to clarify the early Proton categories. Then we could vote (if necessary) and a stable and logical setup would hopefully be reached. Keep me updated. Cheers, mr.choppers (talk)-en- 03:25, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
Hey Mr. Choppers, your views and suggestions are just as important as any of ours ! I have thought about what OSX suggested, and I feel that while both of us really want the best for the Commons' automobile-related listings, OSX has a more widely acceptable motive in this case, that is general clarity and neatness first. I mean, Category:Proton (Saga) is perfectly comprehensible to anyone who knows the subject matter thoroughly, but the vast majority will end up getting more confused ultimately. It's almost a case of 'Maslow's hierarchy of needs'. I've decided for tricky categories like the one above, it'll be better to leave them in a single parent category until there is an immediate demand for a separate category (which is probably never... but we'll see :]). However, for less confusing categories like Category:Proton Jumbuck, Category:Proton Mpi, Category:Proton S16 FLX or even Category:Proton Persona (Wira), I guess it wouldn't hurt, as the model name is easily identifiable, unlike Category:Proton (Saga) which is highly ambiguous to the average viewer.
I wouldn't mind setting up a separate page for a discussion / vote, but I feel that it's not a high priority, serious matter. There's tons of other stuff that deserve more attention on the Commons and en.Wiki. I'd much rather avoid confrontation on small matters and risk jeopardising our relationships. It's just that I did not expect to receive OSX's message on such an obscure matter, I was quite surprised actually ! But anyway, since Category:Proton (Saga) is not well-received, I will convert it to a redirect category. However, I still do think it's fair to maintain the other market-specific categories like Category:Proton Jumbuck, Category:Proton Mpi, Category:Proton S16 FLX, Category:Proton Persona (Wira) etc., unless if OSX opposes or has further suggestions. Cheers Aero777 (talk) 11:44, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me. It is only "Proton (Saga)" that I have an issue with. The others are fine, but would "Proton S16 FLX" be better as "Proton S16 (FLX)"? I only ask because FLX seems to be a Malaysian marketing term for the Saga; in Australia it is not used (so parentheses would demonstrate disambiguation). Also, when I looked up the Proton Mpi some websites capitalise "MPI", such as Proton UK. Is MPI an acronym? Cheers, OSX (talkcontributions) 10:00, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
Hey OSX, don't mention it man. :] Thanks for further clarifying which categories are affected. I will convert Category:Proton (Saga) to a simple redirect category, and it will remain that way until I can find a more suitable and less confusing proposition.
In the case of Proton Mpi / MPI, I too was at odds trying to decide which was the real, correct spelling. A lot of websites including the Proton Cars U.K. website use 'MPi' and 'MPI', but very few use 'Mpi'. I thought of going with MPi at first, but in the end, I felt the best approach would be to follow the spelling used on the badges. Here's some photos ( 1, 2, 3). Furthermore, a certain reputable website which hosts the most detailed facts and figures of old cars sold in Britain also uses 'Proton Mpi'. MPI is indeed an acronym for 'Multi-port injection' or 'Multi-point injection' (not sure which one is correct); the Mpi was the first Proton to receive fuel injection.
In the case of Proton S16 FLX, I've done quite a bit of searching and I must say, you have a strong point. It appears that the facelift model of the S16 does not explicitly use the 'FLX' name in Australia. The only instances where 'FLX' is used are in promotional media, like here. There appears to be no 'FLX' badge on the bootlid (4). Some news articles and car portals use 'S16 FLX' though, like these two. I am fine with either Category:Proton S16 FLX or Category:Proton S16 (FLX). What do you think is the best course of action ? Best regards, Aero777 (talk) 12:33, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi. Many thanks for looking into this Aero. I thought Mpi may have been multi-port injection. As for the S16 FLX, I prefer the "Proton S16 (FLX)" name but it doesn't really matter in a major sense. Cheers, OSX (talkcontributions) 23:41, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks OSX, and you're most welcomed ! I've created Category:Proton S16 (FLX) and converted Category:Proton S16 FLX into a redirect category. Let me know if you have any further concerns, and if I have any, I'll share them on your talk page. Best regards, Aero777 (talk) 11:47, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
