File:Florence Kasumba.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

File tagging File:Ompi inn cas 17 t 16 b.pdf
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Ompi inn cas 17 t 16 b.pdf. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Ompi inn cas 17 t 16 b.pdf]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

File:Ompi inn cas 17 t 16 b.pdf has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

- use in any work, regardless of content
- creation of derivative works
- commercial use
- free distribution
See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.Yours sincerely, Gbawden (talk) 12:40, 2 December 2022 (UTC)

- Hello @Belbury,
- Perhaps I need some education - this was a screenshot from a Zoom meeting that the user group hosted , and it taken with the consent of the participants as part of our documentation for #1Lib1Ref. I read through the WMF guidelines on this too before posting. Unfortunately I do not understand the reason why you took this particular action, please help me understand.

- Hello. I'd flagged this as being a COM:SCREENSHOT that included what may have been non-free usericons. I can't see the deleted page now, but I assume it didn't clearly specify that all involved users had explicitly released their images under a free licence. By all means request undeletion if this was the case. Belbury (talk) 10:34, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

- Hello @Jan.Kamenicek,
- Thanks for taking time to investigate and point this out.
- In relation to the image of Mavis Nduchwa that you have mentioned, it was provided by the subject from what I know to be a private collection of images commissioned by herself.
- While it could be possible that she provided the same picture to the blog you mention, it is not at all fair on your part to flag it while implying that I directly copied it from the source you mention or that I am a persistent violator of copyright.
- I'm not sure what the matter is here, perhaps I could benefit from you educating me. Is it a matter of attribution? Is it that the image should not appear elsewhere? Please let me know how we can proceed with this
- AKibombo (talk) 15:26, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello AKibombo,
- thanks for your reply. I apologize if my note sounded offending, I definitely do not want to call you "persistent violator of copyright", I just meant that either you take it a bit lightly or you are not experienced in copyright, which is sometimes very difficult to deal with even for long-term contributors.
- As for the discussed image: if you know the copyright owner, you can contact them and ask them to release the image under some accepted license. This is best done when the copyright owner sends a releasing email to Commons:Volunteer Response Team, in which they state under which license they release it and that they understand all the conditions of the license, especially the one that they "grant anyone the right to use the work, even in a commercial product". For an example of such an email see Commons:Volunteer Response Team#Email message template for release of rights to a file.
- I apologize again for being too harsh in my expressions. -- Jan Kameníček (talk) 15:43, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
- If you are going to ask for such a permission, I can replace the speedy deletion template for {{Permission pending}} template until it is solved. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 18:43, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
