Indo-Aryan language classification
[edit]Hello, you appear to disagree with the colour pattern used in File:Indoarische Sprachen Gruppen.png to represent subgroups and removed it repeatedly. While the classification of Indo-Aryan language is certainly no straightforward matter, the pattern has a source in Ethnologue, which warrants its representation to represent their point of view. The bleached map you created is useful as well to remain non commital about classification, therefore I moved it into a separate file File:Major Indo-Aryan languages.png per Commons:Overwriting existing files. You are welcome to create new maps to represente alternative classification schemes. The point is to let various points of view coexist to be used separately as needed. Thank you. File tagging File:Maneka, Sonia, and Rajiv Gandhi.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Maneka, Sonia, and Rajiv Gandhi.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Maneka, Sonia, and Rajiv Gandhi.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

And there is nothing called a North Central Zonal Council.

Indo-Aryan languages map, inclusion of Maithili
[edit]I am contacting you to let you know that your Indo-Aryan languages map that is used on Indo-Aryan languages and Indo-Aryan peoples is incorrect as it displays Maithili as a dialect of Hindi. The constitutions of both India and Nepal recognise Maithili as a distinct language:
http://mha.nic.in/sites/upload_files/mha/files/EighthSchedule_19052017.pdf
Ethnologue also includes Maithili as a separate language and not a dialect of Hindi as well:
https://www.ethnologue.com/language/mai
Could you please edit the map and include Maithili as a separate language which almost all sources recognise it as. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Axomika (talk • contribs) 21:32, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
@Filpro: Please address this issue with your map. Thanks
Regarding your Map of Western India
[edit]Is this map [1] made in accordance to Geological Survey of India? If yes, could you kindly write that in the description? I would like to use it in the article. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:31, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Fylindfotberserk: Tiger7253 is technically the creator of that map, which is based off the one I uploaded, which is also based off another map. I think the Geological Survey of India also considers Rajasthan as part their definition of Western India. The map you linked seems identical to the Western Zonal Council. If you want, you can edit the description of that map yourself. Thank you. Filpro (talk) 05:41, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, yes, my mistake lol. For a moment I thought it would be similar to your North India file which seems to be based on the Geological Survey of India divisions. Thanks for letting me edit the description. I may use it or the "Zonal Councils" one. Thanks again.. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:52, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
Jammu and Kashmir map
[edit]Hi, The map you have uploaded for Jammu and Kashmir File:IN-JK.svg is incorrect. First, it includes the part controlled by China in the bottom-right (off en:Demchok and part of en:Aksai Chin) and second it shows the en:Trans-Karakoram tract as part of Pakistan. Please take a look at File:Jammu and Kashmir in India (de-facto).svg for reference and also see the maps on openstreetmap.org and google.com/maps (change location to global).
The Trans-Karakoram tract and Aksai Chin parts should not be included in the map. It would be great if you can fix this map and others in Category:SVG locator maps of states in India (red and dark grey location map scheme) as well. Thanks. Gotitbro (talk) 18:36, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
- Please include surrounding countries in the new locator maps as they help better contextualize the location. Gotitbro (talk) 19:13, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Gotitbro: Sorry for the late reply. The article you linked for Demchok says that it is controlled by India. Demchok is also within the bottom-right region that is claimed by China? Then wouldn't showing the bottom-right region as part of China be incorrect? As for the regions claimed, but not controlled by India... the images used on en:Tibet Autonomous Region, en:Azad Kashmir, en:Gilgit-Baltistan, and every article for Chinese and Pakistani subdivisions clearly show hatched regions for parts controlled by India. I'm not sure why you want apply a double-standard by not showing parts claimed by India on Indian maps and insist on using File:Jammu and Kashmir in India (de-facto).svg as a guideline on the Jammu and Kashmir talk page. The Trans-Karakoram tract and Aksai Chin parts are claimed by India, just like Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. That's enough of a reason to show it as disputed in the maps. Thanks. फ़िलप्रो (talk) 07:09, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
- @फ़िलप्रो: I am not saying the parts shouldn't be shown but the lines in your maps are incorrect. I was saying that Demchok is in India but beyond that it is controlled by China (see this File:Kashmir region 2004.jpg), Demchok is just on the boundary on the Indian side. And the Karakoram tract is shown as part of Pakistan/upper Kashmir region when it is controlled by China. What the maps need is just a line above Siachen demarcating the tract and the bottom right region needs to be shown in grey. [On the WP talkpage I was referring to that file as it shows the complex Kashmir perfectly and because the file was used before Telangana was created on WP, hope that explains it.] Thanks. Gotitbro (talk) 12:54, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi!
[edit]Hi Filpro! It's been a while since I've seen you on Wikipedia. I recall you being fairly active a couple of years ago before mysteriously disappearing. Hope all's well with you! Best regards, Tiger7253 (talk) 08:43, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- Nice to see you, Tiger7253! All is indeed good on my end, however, I am unfortunately topic banned on the English Wikipedia because of some edit-warring incident. I am no longer allowed to edit any India-related articles. There currently isn't enough motivation for me to bother appealing as I have realised that en:WP:IN has became a place of a very select few groups. You might see me around only to update some map here on commons. I also occasionaly spend my time in the Hindi and Punjabi Wikipedias. Sorry for the late reply. फ़िलप्रो (talk) 02:24, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
