Pay attention to copyright
File:Mariam-Rodriguez.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Autopatrol given

[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Alaa :)..! 09:15, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:NabihAlAzmah.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:NabihAlAzmah.jpg, is missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted.

If you created the content yourself, enter {{Own}} as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} or {{Cc-zero}} to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Hi ساندرا, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Hello!

Do you regard {{Pd-iraq}} as a license eventhough the template doesn't exist?Jonteemil (talk) 14:52, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hii @Jonteemil
I don't think it is in the public domain, the oldest version as I found is here or in the book and the both have copyrights. --Sandra Hanbo (talk) 18:24, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Then why did you convert the speedy deletion request to a normal deletion request?Jonteemil (talk) 19:51, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jonteemil I did not convert it, I would add it to this but I don't know its abb. Commons, if you could provide it to me here (the speedy deletion template), I will appreciate it. thank you for asking. --Sandra Hanbo (talk) 19:59, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sandra, it is nice when you add the ar language to the diagram; I cannot because I do not know abot the language. But please do not use the buggy translate tool – it will be quite easy to edit languages using a simple text editor, e.g. with the Rillke SVG edit. When you don't know about editing SVG with an editor, people will help you; or tell me the ar text and I can make it. But do never try it with the translate tool ! -- sarang사랑 12:47, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Now I found some ar-text ( from Tima93Lb and Ibrahim.ID) and used it; hoping it is now fine -- sarang사랑 07:32, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarang Hello, By my side I was testing the tool, and as you said it was not good, that is why I left it, I did not know what to do for it and I upload another version (Arabic version) (SVG) one, where I used inkscape to do it instead of the one you are mentioning, it is ok to delete the Arabic translations and anyother related work for it.--Sandra Hanbo (talk) 07:44, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The Arabic text in the multilang file looks completely different to that in Structural-Iceberg ar.svg; I cannot understand either but I believe that your text is better – and because it is pathed I do not have access to it. That's always the problem: embedded text can be copied, pathed text inhibits it.
As I see also, the pt and no translation got lost with all the reverts. It can be reinstalled with a correction of the ar translation. -- sarang사랑 08:10, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarang If you would like to redo it in Arabic I do not mind provide you with the Arabic translation for each word, where you need just to copy/paste them in the right place on picture :) --Sandra Hanbo (talk) 08:13, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, with such a friendly help I can do it. Just type the words here !-- sarang사랑 08:19, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Wiki Loves Earth

[edit]

Hi Sandra Hanbo, I am the technical coordinator for Wiki Loves Earth and I noticed you created the pages for Wiki Loves Earth 2024 in Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. These pages are in English, while the main language of the people in these countries is Arabic. Normally I would expect the pages (also) to be in Arabic (and those then link to the English version) and link from the banner to the Arabic pages. Are you going to translate the pages to Arabic? Greetings - Romaine (talk) 15:13, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

PS: Also the "under construction" template should be removed from the pages before the contest starts. Romaine (talk) 15:29, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
PS2: The Find an object button on the four pages does not work either. Please fix this and let me now that you this has been fixed, then I can start the banner. Romaine (talk) 15:33, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your comments @Romaine, I will finish the pages in two hours, I would like to add the Arabic translation ASAP after finishing the construction (in ~ 2 hours from now).
Please mention me for any improvements. Sandra Hanbo (talk) 15:37, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Romaine I had finished constructing the pages, please review them and let me now if they needs any updates.
Could you also mark them for translation? So I could add the Arabic translation? Sandra Hanbo (talk) 18:56, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay. I am not at home yet (was at a lecture), I marked the four pages for translation. Romaine (talk) 20:19, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I have added the translation for Lebanon and Syria. Sandra Hanbo (talk) 20:57, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hello @Romaine, I would like to ask about the statistics counter (file counter), it is not updating (Syria contest) as an example.
Is there any problem with writing the coding by my side? and how to solve it please?
Thank you in advance Sandra Hanbo (talk) 12:57, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Sandra Hanbo, Which statistics counter do you mean? If you mean the counter at the bottom of Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2024 in Syria: it does get updated properly, but every wiki page is cached. This means that in many cases not the actual page is shown, but an older version of the page (and lower number). This is something that is the case for any page and we can't decide on that, but it might help to purge the page from time to time.
If you mean another statistics counter, please let me knows which one you use so I can have a loot at it. Romaine (talk) 13:31, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the one in the statistics box in the bottom of the pages, I normally clear the cache of the page(s) to be updated, and/or open the page(s) from different browser, but this doesn't work this time. Sandra Hanbo (talk) 13:48, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes it is needed to use the purge function multiple times. Caching takes place on the servers of Wikimedia, but may also happen at the servers of an internetprovider. Here at my computer it shows the actual number. Romaine (talk) 13:50, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It works, thank you for mentioning the tool Sandra Hanbo (talk) 14:08, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!

[edit]
2022 Picture of the Year: Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) and Gadwall (Mareca strepera) in Nepal.

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
