Pay attention to copyright
File:Evanescence band members in 2007.jpeg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Zhyar, please do not take images from other websites and claim them as your own. I have deleted File:Evanescence-E-logo.png and File:Atheists logo.png from Commons as copyright violations, not only because they were apparently was taken from this webpage and this webpage, but because they are too complex to be considered {{PD-ineligible}} (especially the Evanescence one). Let me know if you have any questions. Huntster (t @ c) 19:57, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand what you mean by "claiming to be your own" I have taken the picture from the Evanescence reference which doesn't have any copyrights and I re edited it myself, on my device, on the dates and time I provided in the description.
What am I doing wrong here? Zhyar Merlin (talk) 20:05, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
One, what re-editing? The two look visually identical to me. Two, it doesn't matter if there is no copyright statement specified on that image page because 1) copyright is automatically assigned upon the creation of any work and must specifically be released or modified by the copyright holder, and 2) the design was created by the Evanescence team and used as artwork on various The Open Door albums! Why would you think you'd have the right to claim that as your own? Let this be a lesson to not simply take material from the Internet unless you known with 100% certainty it's copyright status. Do not assume anything. Huntster (t @ c) 22:36, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What about this one? I found the pics on web and made this one myself. ttps://flic.kr/p/LBrpUM and while we're at it, why does Wikipedia mark Flickr and YouTube as spam for me? I've seen other people use it in discussions and articles. I've also added pictures and provided the name of the photographer, location and etc but you still deleted it. I don't know what's the problem here. Zhyar Merlin (talk) 05:23, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, the image first. The vine pattern is the primary copyrighted component. It isn't a character, so it isn't copyright ineligible. Second, Wikipedia does not allow URL shorteners, which is what the "flic.kr" part is. Just use the whole URL. Third, what pictures have you uploaded that I've deleted? Something you obtained from Flickr? Link them and I'll explain the problems.
Since you don't have a grasp of copyright and the issues surrounding it, let me make this suggestion: do not upload anything unless it is a photograph you have taken. With some caveats, that is the only way you can be sure to not run afoul of copyright law. Huntster (t @ c) 06:24, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
File:Evanescence band members in 2007.jpeg it's the one you just signed above on the page ^ Zhyar Merlin (talk) 06:41, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. You gave its source as "http://www.todayszaman.com/arts-culture_evanescence-comes-together-for-new-self-titled-album_259178.html" and its author as "Jack Liam". An archive of that site, http://web.archive.org/web/20160110060037/http://www.todayszaman.com/arts-culture_evanescence-comes-together-for-new-self-titled-album_259178.html, does contain the image but gives no author. So, where did "Jack Liam" come from, and what on that page made you believe that {{Cc-zero}} was the appropriate copyright tag to assign to the image? I found that image on http://www.deseretnews.com/article/695228012/Evanescence-on-last-lap-of-tour.html?pg=all, where its author was clearly identified as "Jim Cooper, Associated Press". Huntster (t @ c) 07:12, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
At the time I googled the image and searched for articles that used the image and found the writer of the article, I have tried to find the article again but it seems that it's removed or something, that's where I got the name. Anyway, my intentions were good uploading the pictures, obviously. But thanks for the warnings. Zhyar Merlin (talk) 07:19, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Just remember, the author of a news article is very rarely the same as the photographer of images in that news article, except occasionally for local newspapers, who don't have the manpower. For that matter, larger publications find it easier to simply buy images from news agencies, like Associate Press and Reuters, or more commonly to buy from image stock repositories, like Getty, Corbis, iStock, etc. (whom I despise, as they love taking images from Commons, claiming them as their own, and selling them...thoroughly reprehensible). Warning sign
This media was probably deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Vegan meals.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Vegan meals.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Takeaway hello, email has been sent but I still haven't gotten a response. What should I do?Lost Whispers (talk) 04:48, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. I followed the procedure in Commons:OTRS and did this -> https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File%3AVegan_meals.jpg&type=revision&diff=238072016&oldid=237662424 I hope it's correct as I'm not really much of an OTRS kind of contributor to Commons. - Takeaway (talk) 19:28, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, is there really a featured pictures process in ckbwiki? If there is, please link to it. I am about to revert your edit there, but I decided to ask you first just to be sure. Thanks, Poyekhali 08:12, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
