Stereograms have been in existence for a long time (refer Stereo images category and sub-categories). This concept was then utilized to commercially produce "View Master" based stereo image reels (7 pairs of images per reel).

A college friend introduced to me a binocular viewer of normal 35mm slides, which could be used to view 3-D images, provided they had been photographed for that purpose - 2 photographs per scene (right eye image and left eye image). From then on, various tourist centers, scenery, buildings, gardens and nature have been captured in slide film in the period 1994 to 2010. The following collection are Parallel view images scanned from those slide films, during trip to Italy in 2010.

The portrait type stereograms below have been put together with the black gap to suit views using VR devices on modern smart phones with HD aspect ratio.

About these stereograms

These photographs are part of a collection of Diapositive film (also known as slide film) which were taken using Canon EOS cameras from 1994 to 2010, explicitly to capture the 3-D view of the sceneries, landscapes or buildings. The slides were scanned using a Wolverine scanner (at approximately 4000 dpi) and then put together using IrfanView software.
Where necessary some cropping / fine-rotation has been done for corrections. The left image and right image were taken consecutively (and not simultaneously) - with manual approximate positioning of camera as well as approximate framing of the subject(s). Hence, in some pairs, the lighting/ aperture may be different between left and right image. In others, there could be movement of any movable objects / organisms in the images.
The images have been placed side-by-side in parallel format using the same IrfanView software. Dust, discoloration by age of slides, damage due to handling, etc., may be found, which have not been touched-up.
Best when viewed on a smart phone with appropriate aspect ratio, using a Google Cardboard / similar VR device.
For images with portrait orientation, the black space between the images is intentional, for good viewing experience on such a device.
As mentioned in previous box, viewing by cross-eye technique without any devices will also yield a good 3-D visualization, but a device is recommended for best experience.
NOTE: The uploaded images are big in size (4K to 5K pixels wide) and can give more clarity, than the default versions that Wikimedia serves on browsers (800 pixels or 1K pixels wide).
