Wikipedian-in-Residence, University of Toronto Libraries | Project Page

About Me

[edit]

I am a paid employee of the University of Toronto Libraries from October 2018 to August 2019, serving in the library's newly-created Wikipedian in Residence role. I am a Masters student in Political Science at the University of Toronto with research interests in open and participatory governance and the politics of time. I also help organise Toronto's civic technology community. Previously, I studied Fundamentals: Issues & Texts and International Studies at the University of Chicago. My interdisciplinary undergraduate research drew from epistemology, pragmatism, ethics, anthropology, and critical media and gender studies.

As a member of the Wikipedia community participating with an accepted professional affiliation, I am committed to observing Wikipedia's policies and guidelines on conflicts of interest, verifiability, neutrality, and notability. This ethos extends to any Wikimedia project edited through this account, including Wikimedia Commons. The Wikipedian-in-Residence position was created by the University of Toronto Libraries under the institution's mission to "foster the search for knowledge and understanding in the University and the wider community"[1]. Through the initiative, the Library aims to make its publicly accessible Collections more readily available to the Wikipedia/Wikimedia community. All work executed in this role will openly and publicly benefit Wikipedia and Commons users.
